Booked for two nights to go to Beamish museum . Travelling by train. Walk , part uphill to Castle takes about 30 minutes from the station. Uber £ 8 bus quite complicated.  There is a bus from town centre to the hotel  but it’s quite complicated suggest if unable to walk book a Uber. Bus  from town centre to Beamish entry very easy,  £2.50.  Now for the Castle itself. You can’t help falling in love with the quaint and worn castle the ‘worn’ being part of its attraction. We stayed in the stables in an upstair room. Stairs are quite narrow with small landings so  not suited to those with hip and calling difficulties. Bed , bedding and bathroom immaculate and very comfortable. Room very peaceful with early waking of bird song. Bathroom had a separate magnifying mirror which was very much appreciated. Down side was the dust on the beams over the bed hence the lower score for cleanliness.  Now for the breakfast and restaurant service. Faultless. Food of the highest quality with service to match. Breakfast matches the London 5 star ratings.  Overall this hotel was exceptionally good value and a place we plan to visit again. We highly recommend this for anyone visiting Beamish who appreciates high quality food, something a little different, peace and quiet who enjoys a lovely bath.

We stayed in a deluxe garden room, which was spacious but ultimately disappointing given the high price point. The layout was awkward and not very user-friendly—there were no plug sockets near the bed to charge phones, and the room lacked air conditioning, making it uncomfortably warm and stuffy. To make matters worse, the window/door was broken, so we couldn’t ventilate the room without compromising security. Since it opened directly onto the golf course, guests and golfers were frequently walking past, which also raised privacy concerns. Unfortunately, the room offered very little privacy unless the curtains were drawn—however, the lighting inside was quite poor. Sheer or net curtains would have made a big difference. Surprisingly, for a 4-star hotel, the room lacked basic amenities: no mini fridge, no bathrobes or slippers, no face towels or facial tissues, and the bathroom toiletries were extremely basic. Even the ironing board was old and difficult to use. Staff did attempt to fix the door/window and provided a fan and extension lead, but these were temporary solutions at best. After some back and forth, we were finally upgraded to a better room, which made a big difference. On a positive note, the grounds, spa, food, and overall service were lovely. Just a word of advice: avoid booking the deluxe garden room—it doesn’t live up to expectations.

Hotel in a historic building right in the centre of the town. It is a nice place to stay and has a convenient location. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Amazing hotel, perfect location for shopping at the Metro Centre. Fantastic breakfast with good quality ingredients. Also a steam room and swimming pool. The price was really cheap, considering everything on offer. Highly recommended for a short stay.

More like a club 18-30 experience. The hotel was fantastic, food excellent and staff went way, way beyond. However, the main function of a hotel is to have somewhere to sleep. The hotel had two weddings on the night of my stay and between 12:45 and 14:30 I was unable to sleep for the screaming, laughing, partying that was going on throughout the corridors. I never heard any staff trying to resolve the situation, just plenty of noise. I had to pay £20 surcharge for my dogs to stay and they were not allowed In the restaurant - which is very reasonable, but have to say that they were better behaved that the other animals who were not required to pay any surcharge or not required to follow any basic behavioural rules. On checkout, I was not even asked if I had a pleasant stay. I assume the staff did not want confirmation of their mismanagement. If this is the sort of establishment used but Trip.com, then I can only say first impressions go a long way and I will stick to other hotel brokers in future.

The size of the room is specious with sufficient space for storing luggage, and the floor is very clean and comfortable to walk on with bare feet, so feel free to leave your shoe by the door. As for the bed, it is very large and comfortable, providing you the high quality of sleeping without any problems. In the bathroom, it is not only very elegant and clean, but also provides unlimited hot water with satisfying water pressure from two types of shower heads. Moreover, there is a mini fridge placed in the lower closet near the wardrobe, feel free to drink the two bottles of spring water prepared by the host or store your own drinks or unfinished meals. In addition, there is a small safe above the fridge for depositing your valuables. In terms of the amenities on the ground floor, there is a high-end restaurant serving traditional English breakfast (e.g. egg benedict) in the morning, and the taste is fine. However, I am not a big fan of their lunch or dinner when you can have better options in nearby restaurants. Furthermore, there is a small bar just outside the restaurant. The Gym, coffee room and reception are at the LG level, and you will receive a 10% discount in the coffee room after check-in. The location is very close to the city center, train station and several main attractions such as the cathedral and castle. Overall, I enjoy my two-day stay very much, the price of the hotel is very cost-effective in terms of the four-star standards, providing an unforgettable experience for both tourists and business travelers.

Very nice hotel with very good service. Car parking for a fee. Lift was out of service on the days we stayed. Staff helped with luggage assistance to the rooms since lift was out of service. Good location with short walk to Durham Cathedral.

Absolutely spotless and finished to a high standard. Decor is modern and appealing throughout. Staff are helpful. Lovely restaurant and fantastic coffee served there. The only slight issue I would say, is that you can hear guests in the next room very easily and this isn’t desirable for obvious reasons. We sadly ended up with very noisy guests in the room next to us the first night we stayed and this caused considerable disruption to our sleep pretty much all night. Saying this, we didn’t notify the staff though (so they may have been able to help) as there was no phone in the room. The next night was fine and completely silent so this would be dependent on who you have staying near you.

First I stayed in the same brand hotel in north Durham for 4 nights, and then I stayed in this hotel in the city center for 12 consecutive nights. The location is very convenient, very close to the city center square and the train station, and the scenery nearby is very good. , The room is clean and the front desk staff is friendly. It's just that the natural wind blows all the time in the room, and it seems that it can't be adjusted to warm air or turned off. However, the temperature was not bad in early October, and I will stay here again if I have the opportunity.

The hotrl is beautiful and the workers are nice, but the sheets and bed covers are not quite clean.
