Best Western Lichfield City Centre The George Hotel in Lichfield is just a 5 minute stroll from many of the citys best attractions. These include the famous 12th century Lichfield Cathedral, the Garrick Theatre, Beacon Park and many more architecturally spectacular historic houses. In fact, Lichfield is well known for being a city filled with historic relevance, predominantly because it is the birthplace of Samuel Johnson, writer of the first English Language Dictionary and you can even visit the museum dedicated to him. Stowe Pool is also less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel and is an idyllic spot for a peaceful stroll or some afternoon fishing. In addition to being a convenient hotel near Lichfield city center, this charming 18th Century coaching Inn has bags of character inside. So, when youve unpacked your own bags, sit back, relax and enjoy the homey atmosphere. If youre here on business or simply taking a break from it, our cozy lounge bar, open fires and stylish evening restaurant will make you feel at ease, with all the fine food and drinks you could wish for. Free parking and free Wi-Fi are also available to all guests. The Best Western is well located for the Midlands motorway network so you will find yourself within easy reach of major cities such as Birmingham, where you can enjoy a more vibrant pace of life, if only for the day. Wherever you end up, you can be sure a warm welcome awaits you back at the hotel.

"I stayed at this hotel for the second time. After the hotel was newly renovated, the room facilities were very good. The service staff was very welcoming and the response was very fast. Due to the slight noise of the room on the first night, I responded and made adjustments soon after the hotel proposed. The front desk supervisor has a clean and honest Hong Kong little handsome guy who especially wants to praise, and tirelessly think about the guests, let me think about his name. The variety of breakfast is quite large, but the variety that has been eaten for two days is almost the same, 🤦 Hey, there are a lot of people in the morning, the elevator is a bit slow, and students who have something to do should hurry early."

"I stayed with my dog whilst attending a local show. The lady on the front desk I think she was called Sharna was a real credit to the hotel. Friendly and warm and I saw her helping people non stop from instructions on how to find things to even holding dogs . Room was clean and comfy and location was spot on for Staffordshire show ground . Breakfast not a huge choice but plenty and all cooked and tasted nice . Lots of free parking so as a female solo traveller I felt safe here"

"Like the last few trips, The hotel overall was excellent as always. The bed was really comfortable, the shower and bathroom were nice despite the small size. The room service was wonderful, came back to find the bed fully cleaned and tucked after coming back from a walk. Plus the staff were also really helpful when it came to helping with my reservation and what my other friends needed during the last four days there. Really looking forward to coming back here again in August"

"We stayed in the Keele Courtyard for 3 nights 27-30 December 2025, close enough to the village of Woore where our son hosted a large family gathering - 15 in all of which we are the parents of 3 and grandparents of 7. We found most aspects of the hotel to be very good - very helpful and obliging staff, a spacious and well-appointed room with a large very accessible bathroom. The generous bed was perhaps a little soft for our taste, with pillows that were too large/over-filled to be completely comfortable, again not to our taste, however we slept without too much 'distress'!! Our main disappointment was breakfast. We dined at 7.45am on our first morning as we had a 9am church service to attend and there were few others in the restaurant. The 'heated' plates were cold, and without exception, every cooked item (an acceptable selection available) in the chafers was tepid if not cold and greasy. The fried egg yolks were solid and unpalatable. The generic plain yoghurt was of thin consistency and tasteless. The unlabelled marmalade, (if that was what it was?!) had no flavour and might even have been apricot jam ... There were plenty of cereal, pastry, Danish, roll, fruit, cold cut options etc. and the fruit salad and compote were delicious! The bread for toasting was basic and there were no uncut options to enable a choice of thickness. There was a seeded loaf, already sliced, available near the pastries, etc. which made delicious toast but could perhaps have been available for individual guests to cut more thickly? The coffee from the machines was good, with a varied selection of choices. In order to have a cup of tea, it was necessary to 'dunk' a teabag in a mug - yes, very much what many tea- drinkers do in their daily lives, but surely the availability of small stainless steel tea pots near the hot water is not beyond the imagination of an organisation like Marriot? Tea tastes so much better if allowed to brew in a teapot before being poured into a cup or mug! Perhaps these comments will allow Marriot to review some of their Buffet Breakfast practises and improve the quality of the experience. May I conclude by saying that we have had worse and better - but are still looking for perfection ... ! Thank you for this opportunity to air my feelings. ************."

"Room was on the small size, but had everything needed. Bathroom was clean and neat.  The only thing that let this trip down, was that the aircon is not working, and hasn’t been working for months. I previously had left this hotel as it was far too hot in the room, and all they offered was a fan. I called reception before booking, and they said how the air con was working, but then when I arrived, they said it “may be working, in some rooms”, but wasn’t working in ours.  But overall, this was a nice and comfortable hotel. Would book again once aircon is working."

I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, the experience fell below expectations. From the beginning, the staff didn’t seem as attentive as they should be. Although they were polite when approached directly, there was a noticeable lack of initiative, and at times it felt as though guests were left to figure things out on their own. The room itself had several issues that really shouldn’t be overlooked. The toilet seat wasn’t fitted properly, and on top of that, the toilet flush was wonky and didn’t work as smoothly as it should. These are basic facilities that need to function correctly for a comfortable stay. The shower also had mould on the silicone, which was disappointing and raised concerns about the level of maintenance and cleanliness. Another issue was the cutlery provided in the room. It was dirty on arrival, which immediately created doubt about the overall hygiene standards. Small details like this make a big difference in how confident and comfortable a guest feels. While the hotel has potential in terms of layout and amenities, these issues made the stay far less enjoyable. I genuinely hope management addresses these concerns so future guests can have a much better experience.

We booked to stay here as we had a daytime function nearby. We had a few hotels as options and chose here as it was a special occasion and this felt like a treat. We all arrived at different times to get changed before leaving and said we all felt like we were an inconvenience from the moment we arrived. The staff weren't friendly or very helpful. We arrived back from our function at 7.30pm and checked in, there was a change in staff but not a change in customer service. We asked if we could get food from the restaurant and was told we couldn't because of ”everything else going on” which we assume was a wedding nor could we order room service. We asked if we were allowed to go for a drink in the bar and they said we could if we ”could find a table”. We weren't informed of where breakfast was, the times or when check out was. We went out for food in the end, but be mindful there isn't anything particularly nearby so it was a challenge with taxis but we found somewhere to eat easy enough (and had a lovely time). The hotel itself is beautiful as are the grounds so we were really disappointed that the service didn't match it.

We really like staying here, if only for a single night to break up the evening drive from the south to the north west, picking our trip up again the following morning. Our most recent visit was the first using our new (to us) EV, so charging on site proved anxiety calming and very effective - albeit pricey! Thanks again to all concerned with our stay, we'll be back again - that is for sure! Best, M&C

I was pleasantly surprised by the decor of the room and bathroom! The room was clean and well presented. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was great with lovely toiletries. Despite being on a main road there was very little traffic noise. The pub was clean and tidy with a good food menu and lovely beer garden. It's well situated for travel as its close to moto.rway links etc . The only downsides are: The staircase to the rooms is a little rickety. Its an old building, so it adds to the character. We were on the 3rd floor in the most recent heatwave and there is no air conditioning so it was very hot. Again, this is only probably an issue for 1 week of the year!! I would certainly stay again and would recommend it

This place was nice. The room was a little out dated but it was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The wi-fi wasn’t the best and the tv was blocked from connecting to the wifi so no Netflix etc. The staff on reception were very friendly. We didn’t take breakfast but we ate dinner in there restaurant, reasonably priced and some good meal options and deals, it was a bit loud as it’s also a bar.
