The 44th Los Angeles Lotus Festival celebrates the people and cultures of The Republic of Korea. Jinju Namgang Yudeung, also known as the Jinju Lantern Festival, is the tradition of floating lanterns on the Namgang River. This dates back to the 1500's when the people of Jinju would light lanterns wishing for a safe return of their family memebers during the Japanese invasion. Today the festival continues in memory of those soldiers who died serving their country. They aslo symbolize hope and unity, and how the Korean people overcome adversity during the war. The Lights of Dream Festival is our adaptationof the Korean Jinju Lantern Festival, and features beautiful rice paper lanterns and custom-made lotus lanterns.
