Heart of Awareness w/ Monika & Nico | The Center SF
May 31, 2025 (UTC-7)
San Francisco
This workshop is designed to guide you on a journey of deep connection with yourself through an intentional blend of movement, breathwork, and self-inquiry. It invites you to access the wellspring of your inner wisdom through a series of connective exercises, enhancing your ability to tune into what you are sensing, feeling, and thinking in the present moment.
What to Expect:
After gathering and settling in, the class will begin with a gentle yoga flow to bring you into presence with your body and cultivate awareness of your nervous system’s current state. As you move through a restorative asana practice, you’ll be guided through various active breathwork techniques, allowing you to explore the profound impact of conscious breathing and movement.
From this embodied state, the group will transition into Gestalt-inspired self-inquiry. Depending on the size of the group, we’ll form dyads or triads (groups of 2 or 3). Participants will form dyads or triads (groups of 2 or 3), with each person taking 10–15 minutes to explore questions like, 'How are you, really?' followed by a 5-10 minute period of dialogic reflection.
Using Gestalt inquiry principles, you’ll practice observing and naming your inner experiences—what you sense, feel, and think—without judgment. This process strengthens your ability to stay present with emotions, move beyond reactive patterns, and cultivate deeper self-awareness. As you inquire, the other members of your group will act as silent witnesses, offering nonjudgmental presence and creating a container for authentic expression.
This practice is profoundly helpful for gaining clarity on the state of your inner landscape, while also showing you the state of your sense of connectedness to the outer world. Additionally, the experience of both fully seeing others and being completely heard creates a safe space for transformation, and a fertile ground for integrating both light and shadow aspects of your inner world.
A note on inquiry: This Gestalt inquiry format is not meant to be a substitute for therapy or counseling. Instead, it offers a powerful toolkit for cultivating a lifelong practice of self-inquiry. It encourages us to approach our inner world with curiosity and compassion, embracing and integrating the parts of ourselves that seek healing—rather than rejecting the aspects we find difficult or uncomfortable, as we’re often conditioned to do.
Bios:
Monika Worcester
Monika is a devoted student and teacher of yoga, self-inquiry, and meditation, embracing a holistic approach that integrates philosophy, practice, and daily life. A certified 200-hour RYT currently completing her 300-hour certification, she has cultivated a deep and evolving yoga practice for over seven years. She views yoga as a living sadhana—a spiritual discipline that extends beyond the mat into every aspect of life. She is also a dedicated student of the Diamond Approach, a wisdom path of self-inquiry that fosters human maturity and liberation. Through this practice, she weaves together meditation, inquiry, and presence to support self-awareness, healing, and transformation. Monika also co-facilitates a meditation circle in San Francisco, creating a space for connection, exploration, and community. Monika is passionate about guiding others in deepening their connection with themselves and others, cultivating environments that inspire authenticity, openness, and personal growth.
Nico Holloman
Nico’s work is rooted in a lifelong immersion in Gestalt self-inquiry, breathwork, and Deep Bodywork®, shaped by his unique upbringing at the Esalen Institute, where he spent the first decade of his life. We think the best relationships are forged when we are comfortable, relaxed and free of pressure. Preferring instead to think of the evening as a casual night out where one can truly be themselves. We do not use traditional 'speed dating' offerings such as bells, whistles and name-tags. Instead we focus on creating an atmosphere conducive to meeting others; a great venue, a personable host and a staff to assist.
Upon registration, you'll be sent an email inviting you to login to your mobile ‘Smart-Card’. As the event begins, log-in to your scorecard and let the flirting begin. Our platform isn't an app so it requires absolutely no downloading and can be accessed directly from our website, anytime.
Should you have any questions - feel free to ask away. Take the time before the event starts to settle in - have a beverage if you would like and mingle should you wish. Chat up our Hosts for tips or simply to ask, which direction the bar is in! After being shown to your table, the ladies will remain seated for the duration of the event. The gents move from lovely lady to lovely lady every six to seven minutes. Your mobile scorecard gives you the ability to see all the participants attending your event, upload your picture, make your selections and be notified of your matches all from your phone.
Don't fret about figuring out if the person is the one or the perfect person for you. Consider it the date before the date. If you choose someone and they chose you - it's a match. You will be given each others first name and email address. The rest is up to you.

collaboration Moments Spent Loving You). Over the next few years his music became increasingly diverse and often globally informed, with projects like 2020's Da Rocinha 4 and 97, a 2022 joint album with Brazilian singer
Juniper
.
Kai Wright
was born in Washington state but spent a good portion of his childhood in Grand Rapids, Michigan prior to attending college 50 miles south at Western Michigan University. When
Wright
graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts' degree in graphic design, his number of short-form releases under the name Sango was already in the double digits, and he had the support of Soulection, which had issued his 2013 set North. Additionally, he had begun flirting with the mainstream by co-producing "Cold Sweat" for
Tinashe
's Top 20 2014 hit
Aquarius
, and contributed to "The Sequence," off
Bryson Tiller
's
T R A P S O U L
, a Top 20 entry near the end of 2015.
Wright
's own releases continued to flow after he moved back to Seattle. Among the titles were 2016's Hours Spent Loving You (a collaboration with
Xavier Omar
) and 2017's
De Mim, Pra Você
, both of which were self-released. Last Gang Records issued 2018's
In the Comfort Of
, a major project featuring guests like
Smino
,
Jesse Boykins III
, and
James Vincent McMorrow
. A year later, he and
Omar
teamed up for the RCA-issued Moments Spent Loving You, a sequel to their previous outing.
Over the next several years, Sango's output remained not only prolific, but consistently diverse with globally influenced projects like Da Rocinha 4 and Shango, as well as regional ones like his 2022 Michigan homage Great Lakes Influence. A collaboration with Brazilian singer
Juniper
yielded the full-length 97, after which he focused on a series of 2023 single with artists like
femdot.
,
Earlly Mac
, and
Masego

STUDIO CERAMICA
is The Richmond District's first community pottery studio and is operated and owned by a female, San Franciscan/ Mexican artist. Mel Rice opened STUDIO CERAMICA in 2016 with her blood, sweat, smiles, and tears. Mel trained and worked in ceramics at San Francisco City College - Fort Mason Campus for over 8 years. Her studio is a child of The Mason Pottery Campus. This studio is run with the same foundation Mel was given at SF City College. STUDIO CERAMICA is located in the heart of SF's "Little Russia" on Geary Boulevard between 25th Ave. & 26th Ave. Learn the craft of making functional pottery pieces for the home. We offer Pottery Throwing Classes & Basic Hand-Building Courses given by Mel, Vincent, Tiffany, and Jay.
Learn how to throw clay on a pottery wheel just like Patrick Swayze & Demi Moore in the movie Ghost! Join a great community of creative people in one of our packages made for beginners or intermediate throwers. Each student will receive 20 pounds of clay, food-safe glazes and slips, and all firings are included. Mel does not put a limit on how much a student can make in these classes, so the sky's the limit on making pots. Everyone will be given one extra class a week to come in and practice and receive guidance from the community. Students can purchase more clay at the studio from our selection of 12 different clay bodies. All of our glazes, slips, and engobes used are made the old school way from scratch in our chemical lab set up in the downstairs of the studio. We have a full clay recycling system in place at STUDIO CERAMICA and we pug and recycle all our clay. It is madness, but we do it! More experienced potters can flow at their own pace and Mel can help any student beginner, intermediate, or advanced by hopping on other classes happening at the studio. Mel, Jay, and Vincent will be giving the classes together. Each instructor has a unique style and passion for clay and spreading knowledge. Students can flow at their own pace. These classes are great for beginners or pros. Instructors will be able to help any thrower at any level. Even those who have never touched clay. All are welcome. Also,
students will be able to MAKE-UP instructional classes if MISSED!
Students can make up classes during their package or are able to make up missed classes up to two weeks after the last day of class. Once students have taken a Package, membership is offered. Hope to meet you soon! Please email me with any questions. melriceceramica@gmail.com
Week 1
: Dinnerware- Learn how to make a mug, pinch a nesting set of marbled bowls, & slab roll and make plates, bowls, cheese boards, and platters.
Week 2:
Getting started on the wheel with centering and pulling walls and becoming familiar with the "throwing formula".
Week 3:
Trim, trim, trim those clunky pieces to discover hidden delicate cups inside those heavy pieces.
Week 4:
Glaze, Glaze, Glaze....it is like dipping fruit in different chocolate flavors but it's pottery!
STUDIO-TIME HOURS:
MONDAY - FRIDAY:
12:00pm - 9:00pm
SATURDAY: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
SUNDAY:
12:00pm - 6:00pm
Membership Note:
Once a package is completed, membership is offered, and new hours are given to offer full access to the studio during the day.
REFUND POLICY
: We have a strict no-refund policy. Missed classes can be made up during or after course completion. Once you have started the class, the studio offers make-up classes during the package or up to two week after it's completion, if classes are missed.

Sophisticated Simplicity
Our events offer a fresh alternative to speed dating and matchmaking. We don't find anything romantic about whistles, name-tags or over-the-top party trimmings typically found at singles events so we have done away with them. Creating an atmosphere that is at once casual and comfortable. It's what we call cheeky-chic!
Meet a partner to attend concerts, music festivals, bar crawls or fitness classes. Someone who shares your passions and interests - from sports to yoga - all in a setting just your speed.
-
Upon registration, you'll be sent an email inviting you to login to your mobile MyCheekyDate ‘Smart-Card’. As the event begins, login to your scorecard and let the flirting begin. You'll be able to choose whom you fancy meeting again, to what degree you like them and have until midnight to submit your final selections for matching. Once the clock strikes midnight - return to our platform to see your matches. It's where Cheeky meets convenience! You can also access your profile via mobile, tablet or PC. Our platform isn't an app so it requires absolutely no downloading and can be accessed directly from our website, anytime. Paper scorecards are just so 2010!
The night has arrived! Go to the venue at the published start time for the event. There is no official start time to the speed dating portion of the evening - we like to wait for all daters to arrive, to have a moment to settle in with a refreshment and mingle should they wish.
Our personable hosts will assist you with your MyCheekyDate 'Smart-Card’ Scorecard. Flirty and fun, your mobile scorecard is just the beginning.
Offering uncompromising value with unparalleled service. Lovely venues and our lovely Hosts to assist you with anything or anyone.

Climate Grief, Anxiety, and Hope Ritual | The Center SF
Jun 7, 2025 (UTC-7)
San Francisco
With the accelerated pace of the climate crisis, ecological collapse, and political and economic turmoil, how do we practice staying active and awake? Join us for a focused exploration of these questions in this wild collective moment.
*
Facilitators Joanna Calabrese and Emily Fasten will guide a ritual called the Truth Mandala, a proven practice created by Buddhist Ecologist and Activist Joanna Macy.
*
Over the course of this three-hour ritual we’ll create a space for intentionally facing our sorrows for the earth. We will confront and honor our denial, rage, anger, fear, grief, and despair for the planet, with the goal of finding renewed energy for continued action.
*
This ritual helps us feel more free, more integrated, and more able to continue to work toward meaningful change, all while cultivating connection and community with like-hearted people.
*
We are glad to offer a respite from the constant and very important “doing” of everyday life to come into “being” with grief, complexity, and emotional charge.
*
This experience is a good fit for anyone experiencing anxiety, depression, overwhelm, confusion, or even just curiosity around how to engage with the climate emergency and the interconnected global emergencies of this moment.
*
The Center SF offers us a welcoming and supremely comfortable venue for this vital work. Join us!
*
About the Facilitators
*
Joanna and Emily are two therapist colleagues and friends who believe that rituals are a critical climate solution. Adapting our psyches to climate change is as important as adapting the land with stronger sea walls and power-grids. Emotional resilience is needed to steward our human energy and creative capacities NOW when they are most needed. They are dedicated to raising awareness about the psychological and emotional impacts of climate change.
*
Joanna Calabrese (she/her)is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Northern California. A former political advocate turned therapist, she spent nearly two decades lobbying for climate and sustainability policies on Capitol Hill, at universities, and for grassroots nonprofits. Today she runs a private therapy practice and offers groups and gatherings focused on cultivating emotional and psychological resilience in the midst of the climate crisis. She draws from her training in eco therapy, Joanna Macy’s Work that Reconnects, Francis Weller’s Sacred Grief Work, and experience participating in rites of passage work in hosting this ritual.

Emily Fasten (she/her) is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in private practice therapist based in San Francisco. Drawing from integral psychology, gestalt therapy, existential-humanism, yoga philosophy and practice, and attachment theory, she supports clients and groups toward addressing the most wicked challenges of our time, including the climate crisis.
