Typographics Conference (in-person)

before you pay.
In this workshop, Ilya will guide you through the history and contemporary use of Cyrillic type, exploring different Cyrillic-based languages and their unique typographic needs. In the first part, you’ll gain a solid understanding of Cyrillic’s historical background and design principles. In the second part, you’ll apply this knowledge by extending an existing Latin font with your first Cyrillic letterforms.
The workshop is designed to be mostly self-paced and adapted to your skill level. You’ll work digitally on your laptop using your preferred software, with guidance and feedback throughout the process. By the end of the three days, you will have completed your first Cyrillic typeface style.
Alongside hands-on work, the workshop includes a few lectures—mainly on the history of Cyrillic—as well as small exercises to help you grasp the nuances of Cyrillic letterforms.
Learning Goals
Understand the historical background of Cyrillic.
Develop high-quality Cyrillic letterforms for an existing Latin font.
Expand your typographic knowledge and skills.
This course is ideal for anyone eager to explore typography beyond the Latin script. Since Cyrillic is the closest writing system to Latin from a graphical perspective, learning to design Cyrillic letterforms is a valuable and rewarding opportunity. Prior knowledge of typeface design is strongly recommended.
Required Materials
For this workshop, you will need a laptop with your preferred font editing software — such as Glyphs, RoboFont, or FontLab. Additionally, having some sketching materials — pencils, pens, or markers — would be great for initial drawing.

Sophisticated Simplicity
Our events offer a fresh alternative to speed dating and matchmaking. We don't find anything romantic about whistles, name-tags or over-the-top party trimmings typically found at singles events so we have done away with them. Creating an atmosphere that is at once casual and comfortable. It's what we call cheeky-chic!
Meet a partner to attend concerts, music festivals, bar crawls or fitness classes. Someone who shares your passions and interests - from sports to yoga - all in a setting just your speed.
-
Upon registration, you'll be sent an email inviting you to login to your mobile MyCheekyDate ‘Smart-Card’. As the event begins, login to your scorecard and let the flirting begin. You'll be able to choose whom you fancy meeting again, to what degree you like them and have until midnight to submit your final selections for matching. Our platform isn't an app so it requires absolutely no downloading and can be accessed directly from our website, anytime. Paper scorecards are just so 2010!
The night has arrived! Go to the venue at the published start time for the event. There is no official start time to the speed dating portion of the evening - we like to wait for all daters to arrive, to have a moment to settle in with a refreshment and mingle should they wish.
Our personable hosts will assist you with your MyCheekyDate 'Smart-Card’ Scorecard. Flirty and fun, your mobile scorecard is just the beginning. Chat up our Hosts for tips or simply to ask, which direction the bar is in! After being shown to your table, the ladies will remain seated for the duration of the event. A spellbinding tale of family, obsession, and a mysterious creature in the woods—“a mesmerizing story about hope, sisterhood, and survival with a truly shocking twist at the end” (

“This mythical novel of obsession, moral reckoning, and aspiration glows with fairy tale magic.”—
The Boston Globe
“A fantabulous delight.”—
Los Angeles Times
“Glorious and terrifying. Julia Phillips is a brilliant writer.”—Ann Patchett
They were sisters and they would last past the end of time.
Sam and Elena dream of another life. On the island off the coast of Washington where they were born and raised, they and their mother struggle to survive. Sam works on the ferry that delivers wealthy mainlanders to their vacation homes while Elena bartends at the local golf club, but even together they can’t earn enough to get by, stirring their frustration about the limits that shape their existence.
Then one night on the boat, Sam spots a bear swimming the dark waters of the channel. Where is it going? What does it want? When the bear turns up by their home, Sam, terrified, is more convinced than ever that it’s time to leave the island. But Elena responds differently to the massive beast. Enchanted by its presence, she throws into doubt the desire to escape and puts their long-held dream in danger.
A story about the bonds of sisterhood and the mysteries of the animals that live among us—and within us—
