"This hotel is excellent, right next to Nara Station, just a few minutes' walk to the shopping street, making dining, drinking, and shopping incredibly convenient. It's also not far from Nara Park, Todai-ji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine; you just need to walk through the shopping street to get there. The front desk staff are warm and professional, and the room facilities are very new, clean, and tidy. The breakfast is extensive, and they even had lychees! As for the price, it's absolutely fantastic value – you get four-star facilities and service for a three-star price."

"The room was very new, and having 5 bottles of complimentary mineral water was a nice touch. Being away from the street, the room was quiet. The shuttle bus to the train station every half hour made getting around super convenient. Great value for money."

The breakfast had a distinct Nara flavor, and the location was convenient with frequent transportation options, which was a huge plus. However, the facilities are undeniably dated. While clean, I personally felt the overall experience wasn't as good as hotels with newer facilities. Also, I stayed for two nights, and on the second day, I noticed there was no cleaning service; only the water was replaced and the trash emptied. If cleaning requires putting out a sign, I suggest the hotel specifically mentions this at check-in or notes it on a information sheet. Other hotels I've stayed at, like Daiwa Roynet and Hilton, usually have clear instructions or indicators for this."

"Checking in can take a while, as the butler asks quite a few detailed questions and then gives a thorough introduction to the building and its various areas. Some staff members have good English, others not so much, which can sometimes make understanding difficult, but it doesn't significantly impact the overall experience. The breakfast is exquisite. During the tail end of the Golden Week holiday, we had to queue for a table. The Japanese grilled fish was delicious, but other dishes were just okay. The Western options were decent and quite plentiful. The room was clean and tidy, and on our last day, we even saw deer chasing and playing in the courtyard. The hotel has a distinct resort vibe, and Kengo Kuma's design features many highlights. It's a tranquil oasis in a bustling area, and the courtyard is beautifully maintained. Most guests seemed to be older, well-established families, with fewer young people. (As a 'workhorse' who needed to get some work done in the evening, I found there were no power outlets near the desk for my laptop, which really drove home the point that everyone else was truly here to relax and enjoy their vacation). Overall, I had a very pleasant and comfortable holiday. It's a beautiful hotel and definitely worth experiencing."
