Room is spacious, have all amenities and toiletries (just missing the slippers). It have heater instead of air conditioner as there is mostly cold here. Centralized control system is a plus. Washroom is comparatively much smaller and just the basic size.
Cons: The main thing was the management which was poor and mostly looked after only locals as we came to know by our driver. At check in the room key didn't worked 3 time and they have to call some technical guy to resolve the issue which was actually the issue in room door, still they gave us the same room. When we go to food court for breakfast in morning, it was only 4 set items only which also they decide they want to give or not. For every request it was a no even when we are willing to pay extra for the same. For the meal we had we asked extra sambhar they deny they can't give. We asked for sandwich or any breads which was also unavailable. But after sometime, they give sandwich to some other persons. When we confronted them, they told it is in different meal, we asked to give only sandwich they outright denied, when we said give meal they say come after 11. After complaining and telling at the reception his response was mostly defending and at last only told you can discuss with senior manager. It was our time to leave the city as per our itinerary so we left the place as it is.
The staff was very friendly. We were already greeted with a small tea and the service was very accommodating. The most impressive was the swimming pool on the roof, from which you could overlook the mountains and the valley! The bar had very high quality delicious food and also cocktails. Very nice location, very good cleanliness and an extensive breakfast buffet. We regret not having booked for longer.

The scenery nearby is indeed beautiful, with a bit of a British flair. The facilities are a bit old, but they're reasonably well-maintained, within acceptable limits. The breakfast buffet is half Indian-themed. There's also another hotel and an Indian restaurant next door; personally, I can't get used to the taste, but the atmosphere and environment are nice.
This was the cheapest hotel I booked in Sri Lanka, yet it offered the best value for money. It completely exceeded my expectations, providing a fantastic experience.

A friendly staff member escorted us to our room, explaining things along the way and even demonstrating the functions of various areas inside the room. Our luggage was delivered shortly after. All staff members greeted us warmly whenever we encountered them.
Beautiful hotel with a view of Lion Rock. If you don’t like the smell of wood, it is recommended to live in an ordinary small flat-floor house. It is recommended to live on the second floor, which is quieter and free of mosquitoes.
It feels like the owner's mansion. The public space is oversized. There is a living room on each floor. The wall is estimated to be portraits and photos on the ancestors. The room is also large, the garden is a bit small, and the breakfast buffet is not many but exquisite.
The old five-star hotel is located on the Mahaweli River, the mother river of Sri Lanka. It is a must-have hotel for Kandy people to get married. The British service standard is very good. Compared with other Sri Lankan hotels, the check-in and check-out are very fast. The software service makes up for the old facilities deficiencies, it is recommended

Unfortunately their hotel is not. I almost feel catfished as many of the photos highlighted the bar and pool party atmosphere. This was not the case - the pool was a decent size but in the shade and I actually didn’t see anyone in it. The pool party drinking shots I highly suspect were perhaps not a genuine source.
The same goes for the bar which is massive and attended to by several lovely young, bored gentlemen as both times I popped up (once for dinner) I was the only patron. Again no party atmosphere or even people - which is a shame as it is a big venue.
Fortunately next door was another venue for some decent cocktails and music which saved the boredom somewhat.
The bedroom was a decent size with a small fridge (but didn’t work), the bathroom was small, felt dirty, no hand soap or soap for the shower (apart from leftover previous occupants - and that was gross).
The pressure was poor making showering difficult and there was plaster on the floor from some damage - not cleaned up.
The bed was massive and comfortable with air conditioning and a fan so sleep was good.
Finally, and to repeat, the staff were lovely. Very hospitable and the location is about a ten minute walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Kandy Lake. So great location.
Would I stay there again - no. Would I pop in to say hello to the owners and next door for a cocktails - possibly!

The food was very good, with very generous portions — you definitely won’t go hungry here! We also really enjoyed the various tea-related activities offered by the hotel, which added a unique and authentic touch to the experience. TCL train experience (price at 100usd person) was good.p
That said, the rooms feel quite dated and could benefit from a renovation. While they were clean and comfortable, a refresh would bring the overall experience to the next level. Also, keep in mind that there is no swimming pool on-site.
We’d recommend staying one or two nights — it’s enough time to enjoy everything the hotel has to offer without feeling like you’re missing out.
