The hotel is in a great location for exploring the Windemere and Bowness area. The facilities were excellent we particularly enjoyed the power shower in the morning and after a long walk in the country, just what we needed to get us refreshed and ready to go again. The bed was also very comfortable meaning we got a solid nights sleep. The breakfast was fantastic, well cooked and plenty of it, the coffee was also very good. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble for them. This was our second stay at The Windermere Hotel and we requested the same room with the same fantastic view, which they were able to accommodate . We will definitely be back.

My wife and I stayed at Burn How for 4 nights. Immediately we found the staff most welcoming and friendly. The pleasant atmosphere was maintained at breakfast throughout our stay. The spacious room- with everything you might need- was part of a block of chalets set romantically amongst some beautiful trees. The Macdonald Old England Hotel is well situated, being just a stones throw from the lakeside and the shops in Bowness. The staff are friendly and obliging and the service matches their attitude. The breakfasts are fine, although the staff can sometimes be a bit slow in replenishing the tureens. We did not use the Spa, so we cannot comment on that. Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again.

The hotel’s facilities are complete, clean and tidy, and the staff are friendly and lovely. Due to Ctrip, the room may have been wrongly booked. They adjusted the large room for us for free, and the stay was very satisfactory.

The lounge was relaxing with nice sofa . Some minor issues: Lack of shower pressure ， toilet wouldn't flush properly, blood stain on the floor of the toilet, took ages to get hot water through for showering

I chose to stay at the villa on Lake Windermere in the Lake District for one night. The landlord was very Nice. The breakfast he made was delicious. The home was also very delicate and warm. It provides the essential services very well: comfortable bed; hot shower ( spacious, too), clean room. It is near clubs which is noisy in the night, but it is not something bothering me much. After closing the window, I fell asleep soon. I will ask for a room opposite next time.

The room was clean and hygienic. I found two socks left by previous guests in the room. The location is good. There is a supermarket next to it, which is convenient. There is also free parking. Other things are generally OK.

The hotel interior is looking rather tired, the corridors are stark and our room while spacious was unattractive. The bathroom was cramped and poorly designed. It was clean and tidy and the staff do the best they can with difficult facilities and surroundings.
