"I stayed for five nights and chose Imahama Tokyu Hotel over Shimoda Tokyu Hotel, mainly because it's within walking distance to the station, even without using the hotel shuttle. We arrived in Tokyo at 2 PM by plane, so we definitely missed the hotel shuttle. We took a train to Imahama station ourselves, but that station was a pain – no elevator, so we had to carry all our luggage down. Also, the Izu area at night can be a bit spooky with limited street lighting. Ms. Masaki, who checked us in, was very friendly. Later, she even provided emergency first aid for my family and me, which was much appreciated. However, some individual staff members at this hotel weren't very friendly towards foreign guests. Perhaps it's because they mainly cater to local tour groups. Some rude interactions made me uncomfortable, but this was only with a few staff members; most were friendly. Breakfast quality was decent and offered a good variety. Due to personal taste, my options were limited, but every morning there was a freshly prepared item, and they were all quite good. I especially liked the tempura fish and croquettes. The young man frying the croquettes was also very enthusiastic. This hotel also provides a microwave, ice machine, washing machine, and dryer. We didn't use the washing machine and dryer due to questionable hygiene concerns, but the microwave was very convenient. We'd often return to our room in the afternoon for a break and could easily heat up some simple food. The room cleaning service was excellent; it was spotless every day. My only regret is that the sofa bed was uncomfortable. When unfolded, the headrest area sank in, causing neck pain, unlike sofa beds in other hotels. Of course, Ms. Masaki did suggest upgrading to a room with a proper bed for an extra charge during check-in, but I decided against it due to the cost. Additionally, there were a lot of mosquitoes and flying insects in the summer here. We killed several mosquitoes and flies in our room and were bitten during breakfast. After the first night when we enjoyed the view from the balcony, we didn't dare open it again because there were too many bugs, especially at night. I suggest the hotel implements some pest control measures, like mosquito repellent lamps or wall-mounted insecticides (my family uses these every summer to treat our balcony walls)."

"This hotel is a 10-minute walk from Izu Inatori Station, or you can request a hotel transfer, but we couldn't get through on the phone so we couldn't use that service. The beach is right outside the door, and it's also very close to Ginsui-so. A stroll in the evening is very pleasant. The open-air onsens are on the 3rd and 5th floors, but you can't see the sunrise from there. You can watch it from the beach downstairs or from the rooftop onsen on the 8th floor. It's absolutely beautiful. Both breakfast and dinner were incredibly rich and delicious; enough to fill two people completely. From 2 PM to 9 PM, there are free drinks available, including Sapporo beer, popcorn, and red bean mochi. Check-out is at 10 AM. Extending it until 11 AM costs 3300 JPY. The shuttle bus to the JR station departs at 9:20, 9:50, and 10:20 AM. There's an Aeon, McDonald's, and Daiso near the hotel, which is convenient for grabbing snacks."

Featured on TV many times. Scored 4.9 on review sites for all-around quality. Izu's local cuisine and 5 types of baths to be enjoyed.

"Thank you for your help with 3 family members. This is the second use. The food was so good last time that I brought my son this time. I think my son and I are quite sensitive to taste, but the food here was very satisfying. I think that the appetizer is different from other places, but it was a dish that made the best use of the ingredients without taking out each dish. The food was great in everything. Also, since it was hot water flowing directly from the source, I was able to relax in both the three private baths and the large communal bath. My husband has neuralgia, so I was happy to say that it was very effective for neuralgia. All the staff were attentive. I thought it was a wonderful inn with a history of nearly 100 years. I would like to visit you again."

Why not escape the crowds and indulge in the seasonal flavors of the sea, while immersing yourself in the soothing steam of the hot springs? Come and enjoy a rejuvenating stay in Atagawa. This fall, *Izu Retreat Atagawa Suikou* is set to reopen after a full renovation, under the concept of "Nostalgic Luxury." One of the signature features of the renovation is a suite room transformed from the former large communal bath area. The suite includes a spacious open-air bath of approximately 20 square meters, installed directly in the guestroom. Taking inspiration from the former bustling bathhouse, the design retains the expansive sense of openness, providing a luxurious experience where guests can unwind while enjoying stunning views of the ocean. In addition, every guestroom is equipped with its own private open-air bath featuring natural hot spring water, allowing guests to fully embrace the distinctive charm of Atagawa, a seaside onsen getaway, complemented by the relaxing sound of the waves. Accessible in just about two hours from Tokyo via the Odoriko limited express train, the hotel is conveniently located only a 10-minute walk from Izu-Atagawa Station.

"This is the best hotel for this trip to Japan, and it is also the hotel with the best value for money. I will stay here for a few more days if I have the chance. The hotel is on a cliff by the sea, with new facilities and a sense of design. The rooms, restaurant and hot springs are decorated and arranged very carefully. All of them are sea view rooms, and the windows are large floor-to-ceiling glass, with an unobstructed view of the sea view, which is very enjoyable. The restaurant's breakfast and dinner ingredients are fresh, and the ingredients and plating are very particular. The main focus is on seafood, and the portions are full. The staff is warm, thoughtful and meticulous in their service. The hotel also provides free shuttle bus service from Atagawa Station to the hotel. It is a very cost-effective hotel, highly recommended"

"The staff are very polite and always willing to help. The room is big and comfortable. The sound-proof work is also effective, so I hardly hear any noise from rooms nearby. However, note that the hotel is in the middle of a mountain. If you don’t drive, you have to rely on the car service which the hotel offers (free of charge but not always available). It is almost impossible to go by foot. However, I must say the hotel staff has always tried their best to cater your needs, which I appreicate very much."

We were extremely satisfied with our stay at this hotel in Atagawa. Every corner of the hotel was thoughtfully decorated, and the staff were very welcoming. The same young man handled both check-in and check-out, and we communicated fluently in English throughout. He provided detailed information, and since we hadn't booked dinner, he proactively recommended several nearby restaurants and local specialties. We even tried the nearby restaurants ”Nishiki” and ”Oboro.” He was especially considerate when we checked out, offering to drive us to the station – a very thoughtful gesture. During our stay, we also enjoyed the two outdoor onsen rooms on the third floor. Soaking in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the waves was truly relaxing. I highly recommend experiencing this hotel in Atagawa.

This is a charmingly rustic onsen hotel. The room doors even have old-fashioned doorknobs. I booked a renovated, newer room type for one night, which featured separate shower and toilet areas. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the station; I saw staff holding the hotel's sign before I even left the station exit. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by staff. Check-in was smooth, with the front desk patiently explaining everything. The sixth floor provides tea and snacks at certain times of the day. Dinner was quite good; knowing we were Chinese guests, they specially arranged for a Chinese-speaking attendant. He was very enthusiastic, introducing each dish, and the ingredients were fresh. The main course, pan-fried alfonsino, was delicious. The bathhouse is large and includes outdoor pools, and the onsen water is excellent and very relaxing. In the evenings, there are local citrus jellies in a small fridge by the bathhouse entrance – a perfect treat after a soak. Breakfast was also very extensive. If you're doing an in-depth tour of Izu, staying here for two nights (I believe staying two consecutive nights also includes a complimentary lunch) is an excellent choice before heading further south. Afterward, you can take the shuttle back to Izu-Nagaoka Station. Previous reviews mentioned some guests feeling discriminated against as Chinese visitors, but I didn't experience that. As for stuffy rooms or strong smells, it's pretty common for older Japanese-style hotel rooms to have the natural scent of cypress, bamboo, and tatami mats. I believe only the fourth floor has renovated rooms with separate bathrooms. I personally can't stand showers with bathtubs, so I specifically looked into it, and soon after, Trip.com offered upgraded room options. Yes, the restaurant did have a slight cooking smell, but it was tolerable. In short, for guests who are very particular and demanding, Izu might not be the best choice, as there are very few international luxury hotels here. I hope this review is helpful to others. Some small surprises are best experienced for yourselves!

This is a traditional Japanese hot spring inn; the facilities are a bit old, but that's not a big problem. The package includes one night's stay with two meals, with dinner being the highlight – the food is excellent and the ingredients are very fresh. The seafood is mostly from Izu, including golden wood carvings and lobster. The Wagyu beef is 5A Miyazaki-produced black Wagyu, but the quantity isn't large. The dinner menu changes every night. The Kurone Iwano Onsen is free for hotel guests; remember to pick up a towel on the first floor. There's only one convenience store near the hotel; it's limited and similar to a small shop in China, not like a 7-Eleven. Fishing is available around the hotel; those who enjoy sea fishing should bring their own rods.

The boss lady is very nice. In addition, we also have our own restaurant in Atami, which guarantees the standard of breakfast and dinner. We have the freshest seafood from Shimoda Port and the specialty golden bream🐟. So book it in advance. The Japanese-style tatami room is too spacious👍👍👍. Make me want to go back to live in Tokyo🤗. The hot spring ♨️ is truly natural, without artificial heating, added. Comfortable😌❤️. Japanese and foreigners who see the hotel will choose to stay here for a few days in the bubble hot spring. Go to the beach to see the beauty of the southernmost tip of the Izu Peninsula. Quiet and comfortable. I met a family with a dog. Cute 🐶! Yukata 👘 is also very shaved. Prettier than in Hakone. Thank you lady boss for taking care of me who came here alone. Peace of mind and pleasure ❤️❤️❤️

The hotel is quite good. Except for the lack of sea view, everything else is fine. The rooms are large, the private bathing area is spacious, and the food is of a very high standard. There was a little incident. The hotel gave us a room with an old air conditioner, and the temperature could not be lowered. The hotel staff responded positively, but the solution was slow. With the urging of Ctrip customer service and the remote communication of Ctrip's chartered tour guide, finally Upgraded and changed rooms for us and solved the problem satisfactorily.
