"Honestly, I wasn't expecting much out of this hotel. It was just somewhere to sleep for the night. I'm only writing this review because the young lady at the front counter named Ada went above and beyond to make sure my family and I were as comfortable as possible. She upgraded us to a bigger room with a humongous bed (bigger than king size) and gave us a bowl of fruit as a gift. That, combined with the quick and timely shuttle to the airport in the morning, made this stay at Holiday Inn Express an excellent one. Would definitely stay again. šÆ"

"Honestly, their service is truly exceptional. They offer airport pick-up and drop-off, and the pick-up was super fast! I've had so many layovers and usually, airport hotels take at least 20 minutes for a pick-up. But with them, someone contacted me quickly after I called, and within 10 minutes, they were there to get me. The service was also incredibly thoughtful. I was traveling alone with three suitcases, and a sweet young lady helped me carry them all the way to my room. She even told me to call the front desk the next morning for help with my luggage when I left. To be honest, I felt a little embarrassed to trouble them, but when it was time for my departure, the staff was already at my door to help me with my bags. I was genuinely touched! The room was also very clean, comfortable, and quite spacious. I'll definitely stay here again for my next layover."

"The facilities aren't new, and the cleaning staff were great, but the front desk was a whole other story. You had to proactively ask for the welcome drinks and snacks, and even then, they'd only be available the next day during business hours. When my takeout arrived, they didn't send the robot for half an hour. When I called to ask, they told me if I was in a hurry, I could go down and get it myself. I was speechless. They clearly messed up and inconvenienced a customer, yet they were so irresponsible. It was a really bad experience. I'm too lazy to move my luggage, so I'll just make do for a few more days."

"The hotel is great, with a good location and facilities, very close to Baotu Spring. Across the street is Henglong Plaza. However, the service has its own unique style. Shangri-La requires a deposit for guests, and for breakfast, you need to show your room card and state your name. What I disliked the most was the constant knocking on the door by staff. I didn't want to use the 'do not disturb' sign, but then there was knocking for laundry, water refills, and various other reasons. If they need something, they should call. I've never seen staff carrying water bottles around, knocking on every door to ask if guests need water ā that's a bit odd. The room had already been cleaned and tidied, so why do they keep doing this?"

"The only downside is the slightly remote location, but the service was excellent and very warm. Even when there was an issue with the TV being mounted on the wall, they actively resolved it with a perfect attitude ā truly five-star service! šš» The breakfast was plentiful and quite tasty, just a bit cold š„¶. As I'm from Germany and don't have a Chinese phone, I couldn't get online. The staff went above and beyond, helping me set up internet access on my phone. They even provided me with a delicious breakfast free of charge!
The hotel room was spacious, clean, and came with a super comfortable large bed.
I traveled from Germany to Jinan for surgery, and being able to return to the hotel for a good rest after my operation was a huge relief!
Today, at check-out, they even gave me a lovely pastry as a farewell gift!

According to Trip.comās grading system, The Madison Hotel is listed as a Trip Plus 4-star hotel, but based on our recent stay, we believe it falls short of that rating. While we had a mostly pleasant experience, there were noticeable issues that prevent us from agreeing with the 4-star classification.
The Positives
- Check-in & Staff: The reception team was friendly, and one staff member could communicate a little in English, which was helpful.
- Room Comfort: Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a very comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked well and allowed individual adjustment.
- Amenities: We appreciated the complimentary bottled waters and two soft drinks restocked daily in the fridge.
- Location: The hotel is conveniently located inside Wanda Mall, making shopping and dining easily accessible.
The Negatives (Why Itās Not 4-Star)
- Cleanliness Issues: The room wasnāt cleaned to a 4-star (or even 3-star) standard. We found nail clippings on the bedside mat, indicating poor vacuuming.
- Shower Water Pressure: The water pressure in the shower was quite low, which was inconvenient.
- Breakfast Limitations: While the Asian food options were good, there were very few Western choices. Additionally, the Western cutlery felt sticky and wasnāt properly cleaned.
- Staff Sleeping at Reception: On our second morning, when we tried to check out early, the reception staff were asleep on the couches. We understand they may have been exhausted, but this is unprofessional for a 4-star hotel.
Final Verdict
The Madison Hotel is a decent option, but weād rate it as a solid 3-star hotel, not 4-star. If you prioritize location and comfort over luxury service and cleanliness, itās a reasonable choice. However, management should address housekeeping and staff training to meet higher standards.
Would we stay again? Possibly, but with adjusted expectations.

Hygiene: The room is spacious, clean and tidy, and you can see that it is cleaned frequently.
I soaked in the bathtub after a tiring day, which was very comfortable š, and I felt that every pore was taken care of.
Service: I checked in at almost 11 o'clock in the evening. The waiter was very friendly and not impatient at all.
When I entered the room, I saw the prepared snacks. People who like to eat midnight snacks said it was very heartwarming š„°
Facilities: The do not disturb function in the room is really great. I can sleep until the sun rises the next day. It's really great.
Once the curtains are drawn, no one loves them. The airtightness is great.
When I left, the souvenirs I was given included masks. Tears welled up in my eyesš„¹. I didn't expect there would be so many catkins in Jinan when I came here, so I didn't prepare them. I didn't expect the hotel to be so considerate and prepare them. When I arrived near Baotu Spring, there were as many catkins as the wind. Thanks to the hotel for providing themš·š„³
I will come to this hotel again next time I come to Jinan. The bed is very comfortable and everything is great. I don't want to leaveš

OOtautahianThis hotel is about a 15 minute walk south of Ji'nan West station, so is a good choice if you want to stay near the station, but is quite far from the tourist attractions in the city center.
My room was big and quiet, and the laundry room and gym were large and very secure.
I gave the service full marks in this review because although there was a small incident, the two reception staff I talked to werw very courteous, and one later came to my room with some consolation gifts as a sign of good faith š
