"The hotel is very nice and still feels brand new, with a great location close to Kii-Tanabe Station. The staff were friendly, the check-in process was fast, and the room was very clean and comfortable.
The laundry facilities, ice machine, and vending machines were all excellent. We also appreciated the free breakfast and complimentary coffee/tea in the afternoon.
This hotel is highly recommended and perfect as a starting point for the Kumano Kodo journey. One suggestion would be to offer breakfast earlier or provide breakfast boxes for hikers starting early in the morning.

"I had originally planned to book the Kamenoi Hotel in Kikatsuura, but I found this one in Tanabe at the last minute and decided to change my plans. The hotel has a shuttle bus from Tanabe, but it seems to leave around 2:30 PM. We arrived around noon, so we opted to go ourselves; a taxi would have cost around 85 yuan. The hotel scenery is beautiful, perfect for a quiet vacation and a few extra days. There are several scenic spots nearby, probably a national park, with stunning views. It was quite windy that day, but we still managed to walk around the island.
The hotel service was excellent. They even provided local snacks and green tea in the room. The best part was that from afternoon until 9:00 PM, the hotel lobby offered complimentary red wine, white wine, plum wine, beer, and snacks – that was fantastic! We ordered three simple dishes for dinner, which were quite good (it would be much more cost-effective to book a set menu that includes dinner).
In the evening, we went to the large public bath for a soak. The outdoor view of the sunset was amazing."

"The hotel is located right by the river with a beautiful view. You can enjoy the outdoor onsen, and they provide yukata/clothes to change into. It’s a shame because the location is excellent, but the hotel could really use a renovation. The onsen is spacious, but it feels quite old, with moss/algae buildup in some areas, and it’s located next to a smoking room, so the cigarette smell was quite disturbing.
Both breakfast and dinner are served buffet-style with a wide variety of options, and the food tastes good. In the evening, there’s also a great selection of alcoholic drinks available."

"It was out of our expectation. It is a standalone apartment that has everything you need. It is better to register all the guest’s information online via the email. That will make your check-in more convenient. We were impressed with the backyard. We planned to have dinner there. Unfortunately, it was cold and raining. We definitely wanna stay there again. It’s at a very great location, close to the shopping center, and the bus stop of Kumano hiking, just in a few mins walk. Even you don’t do hiking, it is also good for a bunch of friends for a retreat."

"Full of continental garden hotel. Simple design is good-looking.
There is also a smart kitten explaining the stay in Cantonese. The room is clean and tidy as a whole.
Outside the window facing the sea view. Parking is free.
You can also book 30 minutes of private soup (free)
Breakfast style is not much, but enough.
Staff service is very good, kind and courteous.
I also gave my son a small gift when I checked out.
After we checked in, we went to the beach near the hotel to play until late at night. I didn't expect the staff to be so attentive and reserved a private soup for me.

The decoration style of the hotel has a sense of Showa era, combined with the ocean, very distinctive. The boss is very enthusiastic and not very Japanese. When I was eating, I talked about it. The boss also said that he had worked in Shanghai 20 years ago and was so intimacy. The hotel is on the side of the road in Kumano Ancient Road, where you can explore the ancient road. And it really is fog の, it is raining in the morning and fog is really like in a fairyland.

The entrance was a bit hard to find, but locals were super helpful and guided me right to it. The hot spring bathhouse is huge, and the water is flowing and very clean. No waiting around, so I could just relax and enjoy the soak. It was perfect for relieving the muscle fatigue from hiking the Kumano Kodo.

On the Kumano Kodo (Kumano Kodo Trail), near the Kawayu stop, the onsen hotel I chose is right across from a natural river bath. The hotel offers free shovels so you can dig your own bath in the river. I recommend bringing a swimsuit. The hotel also has its own indoor and outdoor public onsen. I booked a room that included the outdoor bath. Staying only one night might be a bit too much. I booked a one-night, two-meal package. Without meals in the mountains, you'd probably only be able to eat instant noodles. The Kumano beef served here was excellent. There's also a dedicated bus stop at the entrance with direct buses to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine and Shingu.

A bit minimalistic (shared bathroom and restroom) but otherwise very friendly, clean, with standard set of amenities (TV, WiFi, refrigerator) for this type of hotels. If you are doing hiking and have to stay for a night, this place has almost unbeatable price. Highly recommend.

Kumano Honno is the hometown of hot springs. It includes Tangzhifeng Hot Spring, Chuantang Hot Spring, and Duyu Hot Spring. Compared with the famous Chuantang Hot Spring, the Duyu Hot Spring Hotel we booked is more niche and quieter in a small mountain. The hotel has three floors, each floor is 10 and the foreign room. We arrived at the hotel at 1 pm. There was no regular told to check in after 3:00. We were very enthusiastic to help us check in and introduce the soup rules. The room is large, twin bed + tatami, facing the river bank, the window is cherry blossoms.
There are two hotels and four soup pools, you can soak, there is the largest open-air wind in Western Japan and the Japanese family special loan cut open-air wind.
The dinner was very delicate and the breakfast was very delicate.

I booked a budget room at this hotel for a one-night stop in Kii-Tanabe before setting off on my Kumano Kodo hike. The location is super convenient, with the train station, bus stop for the next day, convenience stores, the tourist center, and many restaurants all just a few dozen meters away. The hotel is older, and the facilities are basic but adequate. My room wasn't very large, but it was very clean.

The room was very clean. The landlady was kind and could communicate in Chinese using a translation software. I ordered her breakfast for 800 yen and it was very comfortable. I didn’t know what to choose from the meal. I just ate what she made and I was very satisfied. This B&B can pick you up from the station. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can only walk there. When I left, she drove me to the station. I liked it very much! The bus runs twice a day, and it’s difficult to take a taxi. The pick-up and drop-off is very pleasant.
