"Beautiful hotel located on the seafront of Sandakan. Location is really good for taking jetties to go both to Kinabatang river to search for wildlife and to the sea islands (for example Lankayan or Selingan). We stayed one night only, so we were not able to use the beautiful pool, but we would have loved to! Lastly, we had a pleasant dinner at Pietro restaurant, located at ground floor of the building."

"There were large gaps in the windows, making the room as noisy as being outside. I managed to improve the situation slightly by stuffing some paper in them. The bed was short; my feet hung off at 186cm tall. The overhead shower's control was broken, but I fixed it with a toothbrush from the amenity kit. You might also have trouble with the toilet flush. Just remove the tank lid and adjust the guiding rod under the flush button. Breakfast is only for those who aren't picky at all. I asked for an omelet, and they made it without a problem, but it might be undercooked. The location is convenient. If you're considering staying in Sandakan, keep in mind that the drive to the airport will take at least 30 minutes. It's fine for a couple of days."

"Really enjoyed our stay at the Sabah hotel. The hotel staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The hotel facilities, such as the large pool and gym, were clean and well maintained. Will definitely stay again the next time we visit Sandakan."

"Impressive facility in the middle of the jungle. The premises are huge with lakes, a restaurant, a large common area, a large pool, different kinds of rooms. They offer night tours of the property and even during the day it's possible to see wild animals and birds. Good breakfast, clean room and very close to the Orangutan and Sunbear centres."

"This hotel is truly unique. The owner probably loves movies, as the lobby is decorated like a cinema, and movie posters adorn the rooms and hallways. The sea view room genuinely offers a sea view. There are various dining options nearby, including Chinese, Western, and Malay food, catering to different budgets. The staff are polite and always smiling. As for visiting Sepilok, it's about a 40-minute taxi ride, costing around 30-something Malaysian Ringgit, so there's no need to spend extra money staying there. Of course, there are downsides; while the rooms are clean, the facilities feel a bit old, especially the bathroom, which really needs a renovation."

"I stayed one night at Hotel Lutana. It was a little out of the town center, a 20 minute walk. I had my own room and my own bathroom with hot water and air conditioning. No breakfast, but they had coffee and biscuits. It was very clean and the woman at the front desk (Rita) was incredibly nice and helpful. It is small, but that adds to its charm."
