"The hotel is about 3-4 kilometers by car from the ancient city, or about 1.5 kilometers on foot (I recommend going via Chenghuang Temple and Nanshan Temple, which is closer, but navigation won't suggest this route). It's located in a new development area, which, as the name suggests, lacks commercial amenities. Nearby, there's a museum and an art gallery that aren't particularly impressive. The city hall is also close by, indicating it's a newly planned area. A few hundred meters away, there's a cemetery, the Pien Tze Huang factory, Chenghuang Temple, and Nanshan Temple. For dining, you pretty much have to go to the ancient city area, as there's nothing much besides the hotel's own facilities. Due to some government regulations, the pool and hot springs are all undergoing renovation. The rooms are quite spacious, around 40-50 square meters, possibly because the balcony has been enclosed. This might explain some of the less-than-perfect decor details, and the soundproofing is quite poor. (We happened to have kids next door several nights who were noisy until past midnight, which was quite disruptive). The bed is 1.5 meters wide, and the mattress is slightly on the firmer side, but the pillows are too soft – both of them! Cleanliness is acceptable, but the bathtub didn't seem very clean. The shampoo and shower gel are Pien Tze Huang brand, so they have a herbal scent. They provide Nescafé 3-in-1 coffee, which is a bit disappointing, but they also have barley tea and tea sets, which is a nice touch. Fruit was delivered in the evenings, but the quantity and quality were a bit lacking. The complimentary sweet soup had nice packaging, but the taste was quite random! The service attitude was generally good. They offer a complimentary Didi ride to and from the ancient city, and food deliveries are brought up by a robot (though it's a bit slow). I didn't try the coffee at the coffee corner in the lobby, but the pastries were better than expected! Overall, it's acceptable, but the soundproofing is poor, and some aspects of the service were very enthusiastic while others were lacking. I'd suggest improving the quality of the complimentary desserts, fruits, coffee, and tea bags. There aren't many dining options nearby, and while it's not far from the ancient city, the surrounding environment is very quiet. Getting a Didi takes an average amount of time, and traffic is smooth (essentially, there aren't many cars coming and going in the new district). The value for money is average (since the hot springs, pool, and executive lounge were closed), and hygiene is acceptable."
