"We stayed in the hotel for 4 days. Location was very near the train station and accessible to buses. Staff were all very helpful and accommodating. The picture of the hotel in your ad was quite deceiving. The hotel was old and made up of very old timber. , though the inside was modern in style, the room was really not a good place to relax / sleep in since I can hear the loud steps of the one above our room and the noises from the adjacent rooms.No lift or elevator available. Not recommended for elderly tourist. Amenities like kettle for hot water and water dispenser needed to be taken from the ground floor near the office. Breakfast has a variety of foods served daily. The only consolation was the breathtaking views of jungfrau and accessible transportation."

What truly made it special was the extra effort from the staff—they surprised me with a birthday card and a sweet cupcake in my room."

"Almost Perfect Stay at Hotel Alpenhof Absolutely stunning mountain view from the balcony of our suite. So breathtaking yet so serene. About 10 min walk down hill brings us to lively village of Grindelwald with all its shops n restaurants n cafes n supermarket. Cannot ask for a better location. Having said that, without a car, it can be quite challenging to take our luggages uphill to the hotel. Breakfast is another highlight of our stay. Fantastic selection of cheeses n eggs n bread n yogurt n everything. Delicious. Our suite is clean n comfortable n spacious. WiFi is stable. The only “negative” I have for our 4-night stay is that the glasses/mugs we used in our room were occasionally not cleaned for us after each day. It is a bit strange. All in all, I have no hesitation recommending this hotel to other travelers."

"## Environment The location is absolutely stunning, directly facing snow-capped mountains and a picturesque hillside. The view from our room window was simply gorgeous. It's also conveniently located right next to the train station, and you can even watch trains pass through the beautiful scenery. ## Facilities Although the hotel is historic, it's impeccably clean and well-maintained. It beautifully combines classic charm with modern conveniences. Parking is available but costs 25 CHF per day. ## Service Overall, the service was quite good. However, on our second day, housekeeping didn't replenish our complimentary water bottles, seemingly because we hadn't finished the ones from the previous day. When we finished them and called reception for more, we were initially told there would be a charge. After we explained that the water hadn't been refilled during cleaning, they promptly sent some up free of charge. Interestingly, the mini-bar drinks are complimentary. On a lighter note, the cleaning staff accidentally left a cleaning cloth behind, haha! Each of us also received a complimentary voucher for the evening lounge, redeemable for a drink while enjoying live piano music – a really nice touch. The pool was wonderfully empty, but unfortunately, the sauna was out of order that day."

"This is an accommodation that made me cry and laugh during my trip to Switzerland :) First of all, if you look at the facilities, it is clean and nice since it was recently opened. There was an elevator and a kitchen available, but there were almost no dishes or appliances. There was no problem with cooking at all. The location is a very far walk from Grindelwald Station, or a short bus ride away. 🌟Throw away the idea of ​​walking with your luggage on the first day.🌟 This is a vertical hike that you can never climb without carrying your luggage. Be sure to check the bus schedule before taking the bus (it's convenient to use the SBB app). Your accommodation will give you a Grindelwald guest card, so you can ride the bus for free. (I had a Jungfrau VIP coupon, so I didn’t use it.) The reasons I cried were: 1) As soon as I arrived, there was no one, so I called and waited for about an hour, but no one answered and didn't come. There were people staying, so I had to wait in the lobby. I had another number on my laptop, so I called, but no one answered. 2) While I was waiting, a man called and asked why I was calling. When I told him I wanted to check in, he said I was fully booked for today, so what did I mean? I told him my reservation number and he said he would understand. Later, he came running in from outside and asked for my passport. Didn't say a single word of apology. (I was very angry here.) Anyway, in conclusion, he said that there was a reservation history on Trip.com but not in his system, so he had me check it and said he would do something about it since there were no rooms available. However, his attitude was not that he was sorry and was trying to do something, but rather that he was annoyed with me. 3) In the end, they gave us our room keys condescendingly, as if they had made it very difficult for us to get a room, and we were very upset that they were sorry for waiting for an hour and that there was no compensation, but we wanted to rest in the room quickly, so we brought the keys up. However, as shown in the picture, they gave me a room without a terrace... Obviously, the room I paid for had a terrace on the reservation screen, and I made the reservation with that in mind, so when I went to argue with them, they said that the room I had reserved was that room. (I was told that it was given to me because I had created a room, but when I went down and inquired, I found out that the room was originally assigned...) 4) Then, while showing a picture of the reservation screen on 'Booking.com', he enthusiastically emphasizes that the room may or may not have a terrace. The problem is that I paid through 'Trip.com' and the room type I booked on Trip.com is not available. All photos showed a terrace. When I said that, he got very angry and told me to cancel it for free and to leave if I didn't like it. To be honest, these words sounded very threatening to me, and I was so intimidated by the man's attitude that I was afraid that he might do something to me. I sometimes wonder if they are speaking in such a threatening manner because I am a woman and Asian. [I notified Booking.com's customer service center of my move, and now the reservation screen for the room I selected also includes a photo of a room without a terrace.] Anyway, for this reason, I started my trip to Switzerland very angry and depressed. ㅠ ㅠ This room does not have a terrace and has a tree view, as someone left in a Google review... lol Next time I go again, I think I'll just choose the room one level up because I'm worried about getting this room. Also, the toilet and bathroom were attached together, so it was shared by 3 rooms. Please note."

"It is a hostel so you should expect what you paid for … over all the front staff Julian and Isabelle were the nicest, the lodge is just a doorsteps to the Grindelwald Terminal … there is a transport village bus card which the front desk will give you so that you can use this to go around the Main Village and just right around Grindelwald .. — the bad side, in mixed dorm the room is very tiny for 6beds it’s not really very comfortable specially when someone walking around with his boxer shorts 😞 … the facilities are pristine but they don’t provide towels in room you have to ask this in front desk - it’s the cheapest place in town but it’s the loveliest the bar grill is so relaxing while sipping with your ginger ale … the breakfast can’t complain it’s all delish with all those bowls of yogurt and freshly brewed coffee yum"

"Location is good, just 1 min walk to the station from hotel, and coop supermarket nearby, many restaurants around. Just don’t expect any services and aware there will be few steps front of hotel and if you need to store luggage before/after check in. Also, no expectation for the breakfast, that some simple one."

"The room faces a dreamy hillside, making it more photogenic than many popular spots. While you have to stand in the bathtub to shower, there's a transparent glass partition, so the wet and dry areas are well separated, not as bad as some reviews on Ctrip have suggested. The room itself is quite decent, and the mini-bar is complimentary. The breakfast was excellent, even including white wine, miso soup, rice, and chili sauce – a treat for Chinese palates! The hotel spa was also nice, but the soaking tub wasn't very big. Try to go during off-peak hours for a better experience. The hotel offers a free train station shuttle service; when we left, they even took us to the station in a Bentley… The hotel is actually very close to the train station, about a five-minute walk. However, if you have a lot of luggage, it's best to contact the hotel in advance for a shuttle, as Grindelwald is mountainous with many steep hills to climb. The hotel restaurant offers different themed set menus daily. The meat fondue, highly recommended by many, was excellent; the broth had no unpleasant taste, and the meat was incredibly fresh. However, the highlight was the unlimited vegetable refills: the juicy zucchini, bell peppers, and mushrooms were the sweetest and most delicious I've had in Europe – definitely worth trying. Of course, the most amazing restaurant we ate at in town was the one at the Sunstar Hotel, about a ten-minute walk from our hotel (I think its name starts with the letter A). Their cheese fondue had no unpleasant taste and was perfect for beginners; their beef stew and bouillabaisse, among other dishes, were also delicious. The hotel staff were also very friendly and welcoming; we didn't encounter any of the ”discrimination against Asians” mentioned in previous reviews. They even gave us bottled water and chocolate when we left. We'll definitely come back!"

"Best stay in Grindelwald! Center of everything. Great view of Eiger in our room and breakfast. Super Perfect stay with Best POOL view! Bucket list stay in Switzerland. Price is quite expensive but super worth it. Get the Eiger View Rooms and Adore the Views! Best family Stay. The downside is the shower. Its still old school. So for PWD or Oldies pls beware you might fall."
