"It was a wonderful place. Quite as I wanted. My room
was with lovely details and everything well prepared. Train station was 6 minutes walk and the beach just across the street also 2 minutes walk only. With approx 15 minutes walk you could be in the next bigger area with food shops restaurants and the nice river. I could book a private 50 minute outdoor onsen time and it was awesome. The stuff are absolutely friendly and helpful. I felt so comfortable and had no wishes. I would come back."

"Although the hotel facilities are a bit old, it's very clean. The room is incredibly spacious with an unbeatable view; you open the window and there's the sea. Sleeping at night with the sound of the waves is really charming, but if it's too noisy, you can use earplugs. There's a free public onsen on the rooftop with a front-row sea view, which is absolutely beautiful! They also have private onsen available for an extra charge. The public onsen is well-equipped with hair dryers, cotton swabs, and skincare products. Mineral water isn't provided in the room, but you can buy it from a vending machine. If you need to go to the station, the hotel can arrange a shuttle service, but you need to book in advance. However, walking along the path offers beautiful scenery, and I recommend walking if the weather is good; it's only a 10-minute walk to the station (it's a bit uphill to the station, which can be tiring). There aren't many restaurants nearby, but the ones that are there are quite good. It offers excellent value for money, and I'll definitely come back for a longer stay next time!"

"The room was spacious with a sea view and a private beach, perfect for surf enthusiasts. The hotel food was delicious, and the service was excellent and friendly. It's very close to the JR station, and there's a shuttle bus that cycles to Kawazu Station, making it super convenient. Overall, it offers better value for money than hotels in Inatori."

"The homestay chosen for this Nanyizu trip is not far from the city center
Service: The reception starts after 3 pm, you can treat guests and parking, and there is a welcome drink. The service brother is very enthusiastic. I feel that there are not many tourists. It is very good to see that we are a little excited.
Environment: Because it is a family trip for four, the manager helped us upgrade the larger room. Thank you very much. The environment is very quiet and clean. The small snacks in the room are also delicious.
Hygienic: Although there is a sense of age, it is very clean, and you can also book a bed time. The public bathhouse is also very clean and very comfortable.
Facilities: The public bathhouse is particularly comfortable. It is too happy to have a beer and there are not many people. This time I booked breakfast. There are many types and delicious. There is a small bar on the first floor of the hotel to drink coffee.
In short: a particularly enthusiastic homestay! Feel the fun of playing in the countryside, the grandfather and grandmother are so cute! ! !"

"The sea view is unbeatable, and it's a 5-6 minute walk from the station. They offer a shuttle service to the station upon checkout, by appointment. A centipede ran into my room... but they changed my room when I requested it, which was fine. I stayed for three days, and the breakfast was decent. The service was typical Japanese, meaning you couldn't really find any fault with it. The biggest surprise was on the day of checkout: there was a huge typhoon in Izu, all trains were stopped. While we were feeling helpless at the station, a hotel front desk staff member arrived! They told us that because we had previously booked a shuttle, they were taking us to the larger Izu-Kogen station! I was so touched! That's truly Japanese service, solving an urgent problem! Overall, it was really good!"

"We had a delicious and fun time with the family.
The private beach was also wonderful. If it was summer swimming season, the waves would be calm and it would be easy for children to play there.
It was the last weekend of March during spring break, but the hotel was well thought out and didn't feel crowded, which was nice.
The freshly fried tempura in the dining area and the fried bread for breakfast were very popular and delicious. However, the smell of oil permeated the yukata and hair I was wearing, so I felt like taking a bath and washing my hair again after the meal. I think it would be difficult, but if the ventilation environment was good, it would be perfect! That's how I felt."

"Many posts on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) offer mixed reviews for this onsen hotel, so I really needed to experience it for myself. The hotel's surroundings are absolutely stunning – incredible sea views and top-notch service. There are both indoor and outdoor hot springs; soaking in them while looking at the moon and facing the ocean would probably be even more beautiful in winter. This time, I stayed on the seventh floor. It was a bit old but clean. On the sixth floor, the Tingtao Pavilion provides complimentary drinks and snacks all day, perfect for relaxing. The breakfast buffet also boasts unbeatable sea-view seating. The only downside is the inconvenient transportation. You absolutely must catch the hotel's shuttle bus before 5 PM. We arrived at the JR station after 7 PM, tried various apps to hail a taxi without success, and were about to push our luggage and walk when we fortunately encountered a passing taxi. Otherwise, it would have been a long trek up and down hilly roads."

"The room is very big, with a bathtub on the balcony. It is a renovated old American-style apartment. Compared with other hotels in Izu, it is very cost-effective. The breakfast is rich, the waiters are very polite, and the key is that there is an Australian waiter brother. There is no problem communicating in English. If you mind the public bath, there are special covering clothes to wear. There is a laundry room. There is a foot bath in the lobby directly facing Dojima to watch the sunset. There are basically free new snacks and drinks every day, and you can take them back to the room. Except for the poor sound insulation, everything else is impeccable. The hotel's buffet dinner is a bit expensive, with few categories, and the cost-effectiveness is not high"
All rooms feature natural hot spring open-air baths, assisting you in enjoying the luxury of doing nothing. A hotel in Izu Okawa, offering exquisite guest room open-air baths and scenic views. The hot water in the room's open-air bath is filled to the brim, with steam rising abundantly. All baths in the facility use 73.3-degree natural hot spring water drawn from the on-site well, with each room uniquely featuring bathtubs made of cypress or Izu stone. Meals include carefully selected ingredients such as seafood from Izu, chicken from Fujinomiya, and rice from Niigata. Immerse yourself in the hot spring and enjoy moments of delight with flavorful cuisine.
"This place is located at Izu-Ōkawa Station, which is a bit off the beaten path for a transport hub in the East Izu area. The hotel offers a shuttle service, which you can book in advance via email or phone. The front desk has a ********* lady who speaks Chinese and is very helpful, answering any questions you might have. The food is quite good, and there are two large outdoor private onsens where you can see stars on a clear night. However, if you want to see a lot of stars, you should head to Ōshima or a nearby island. The room size is standard; in Japanese-style rooms, staff will lay out futons as there are no beds. The tatami mats are very new and have that unique new tatami smell. The private onsen in the room is also nice for a soak. If you're interested, there's also a wild hot spring by the sea – just Google it. You'll find a Lawson convenience store a short walk along the coastline. Overall, apart from the slightly remote location, there aren't any major drawbacks."

"As Ctrip's highest black diamond customer. I am really disappointed with this hotel from love to extreme disappointment! Since 17 years, I have stayed 6 times and a total of 100w yen.
Bad review 1) The waiter who stayed at this hotel for the first time will wait for you in the station parking lot to help you with your luggage & now there is no farewell service when you check out! Difference!
Bad review 2) Because the Tokyo rainstorm driver needed more than 11 o'clock to arrive at Izu, and discussed with the hotel to delay check-out by one hour! And it was stated that I stayed many times with old customers and spent millions of yen. The answer was (snoring desi) ~ can sit in the lobby and wait and check out one minute late to start counting one 2,000 yen per hour!
Bad review 3) Kaiseki cuisine in the restaurant is all Indian waiters! And there are female Indians who have a heavy body odor! It is also this woman to meet! Memories are still fresh!
Bad review 4) Since I took my parents to prepare all raw food in Kaiseki the next day, I communicated with the waiter whether I could add a small pot to cook it myself (snoring) I said that I have a problem with eating now. Can you help me communicate (snoring) and give money (snoring) Finally, I contacted a friend who speaks Japanese for a long time and gave me a pot! And tell me because my friend called to communicate, he was willing to give me one! Get rid of you is the service industry, okay!
Bad review 5) The room has insects, the facilities are outdated, and the food is not as good as before. It should have been bought by Indians."

GGuest UserThe room and environment are great, and the service is also very good. I just asked the front desk to borrow an adapter, but there was no adapter. In addition, the Western food reserved for dinner was said to be the default on Ctrip, but I did not choose Western food. Why should I go to a Japanese-style hotel? Maybe they all ordered Western food, but after negotiating for a long time, they changed to Japanese food for one night. I don't know who should be blamed for this problem.
GGuest UserIt was beyond my expectations. The indoor and outdoor baths are both unique, and the hallways and corners are meticulously designed with meticulous attention to detail, creating a truly Japanese atmosphere. The quality of the two meals was also excellent, including lobster and golden sea bream. The biggest surprise was being able to buy fireworks at the front desk, something I haven't experienced in ages! The service was also excellent, with prompt responses to emails and even shuttle services to the station. Highly recommended!
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is in Izu Atagawa. The town is not big and there is only one Family Mart. You can buy snacks in advance. There is a small shop on the first floor of the hotel and a vending machine for instant noodles on the third floor.
The hotel checks in at 15:00 and checks out at 10:00. Is this the rule for most Japanese hot spring hotels? 😃
There are Chinese service staff every day, but English communication is no problem.
The ingredients are fresh and don’t feel dried...😯, black diamond users rarely comment, just happened to be there on the 24th, the picture below is the dinner that day, the hotel has some problems, but it is generally good.
11371811****Service: 5/5 – On September 5, 2025, Typhoon Pipa swept across the Izu Peninsula, causing the Izu Kyuko Line to suspend all services during the day. The hotel arranged a minivan to transport all checked-out guests to Izu-Kogen Station, a 40-minute drive.
Onsen (Hot Springs): 5/5 – The hot spring area is a classic, aged traditional ryokan, but the cleanliness is impeccable. The hot springs are certified, and both the men's and women's outdoor rotenburo baths are unique, with the main large bath facing the coast.
Food: 4.5/5 – Both breakfast and dinner were a slightly lavish kaiseki style, and the portions were more than generous. Even our two big appetites were completely stuffed. We experienced seven different ways of preparing Kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) over two days, including a whole fish served on the first night. The lobby offers complimentary Suntory beer, which is quite good, along with free snacks. However, soft drinks are not free and need to be purchased from a vending machine.
If you have specific room type requests, you can communicate them with the ryokan in advance, and they genuinely try to accommodate them. When staying at this type of old-fashioned ryokan, it's best to state your needs directly, otherwise, it might affect your experience.
Higashiizu Town is a rural town built into the mountains. Shopping is decent thanks to an Aeon supermarket, but dining out isn't very convenient.
MM391173****This was my first time staying at a hot spring hotel, and choosing Atagawa-kan on my first day in Izu, Japan, was the best decision ever. I booked two nights for just over 800 (yen/yuan) a night, and the service was attentive and detailed. The ocean looked beautiful and serene during the pre-dawn blue hour. The outdoor onsen offered stunning panoramic views of the sea. There's an ice cream shop on the first floor; I highly recommend trying the Japanese yuzu flavor – it's delicious. Next to the hotel, there's a restaurant that's convenient, tasty, and affordable. By 6 PM, it's completely dark, and there are very few people on the streets, making it incredibly peaceful and quiet – perfect for a leisurely stay. Most places here close around 8 PM. I love Izu; visiting during the off-season was a fantastic experience.
GGuest UserThis is a bit worn out and simple hotel. The best things were the extremely friendly and helpful staff, as well as the super delicious dinner & breakfast that was included in the price. I ate maybe the most delicious croissant ever here. The variety and the quality of food was great. Things to improve are the facilities, especially the onsen. It’s very small but more importantly, it wasn’t well maintained and there was no emergency button. When my mom felt like fainting, it wasn’t possible to call for help.
Also the air conditioner in the room was very loud, making it difficult to sleep. All in all, good stay.
KKaren-ChanThe hot spring hotel is relatively old, but the staff is very good. The receptionist can speak Mandarin, and the restaurant waiter can introduce himself in English. He seems to be Indian. The hotel is in a very good location facing the sea. However, the hotel's hygiene conditions are rather poor. After returning from the hot spring on the first night, my body began to itch, so I went to the pharmacy and bought some ointment. The floor was slippery and felt rather dirty. The water from the frozen kettle in the room contained dirt, so I did not dare to drink it, so I went to a convenience store to buy water. I have reported the above two situations to the hotel. The soundproofing of the room was poor. The sound of rain on rainy nights prevented everyone from falling asleep. We didn't sleep well even after staying there for two nights. The two nights were two nights with two meals. The breakfast and dinner menus were different every day. The food was fresh. The only drawback was that there was too little meat. My husband and son were not full enough.
AAnonymous UserA really nice resort hotel. The room was spacious, and the private onsen bath was very clean. The peculiar smell was likely from the tatami mats. We had the hotel's set menu for breakfast but didn't have dinner at the hotel. The supermarket next to Izu Kogen Station offers abundant sashimi, enough to eat your fill. The photos show the places we visited during our stay, and it was all very relaxing.
Having seen some less favorable reviews, let me share my own experience. The hotel's occupancy is highly seasonal, so there might not be many staff members, but they all provided attentive service. During our stay, the station pick-up and drop-off service was always well-arranged. When I'm on vacation, I prefer to relax and not be disturbed, so I opted out of daily room cleaning. I've stayed at some older Japanese-style hotels, similar to those in areas like Shikoku's Oboke, and this level of service is pretty typical. Of course, perhaps I just haven't visited enough Japanese resort hotels to generalize.
Overall, I highly recommend staying here. Don't set your expectations too high, but it delivers on all the essentials for a relaxing getaway.
GGuest UserThe hotel is right by the sea. The view from the window of the room is very beautiful. Dinner and breakfast are complete and delicious. There is an outdoor onsen upstairs of the hotel. And there is a private onsen as well. The staff are willing to serve even though they can't speak English. But try to communicate with the guests Overall worth the price paid.
LLThe staff are very polite and always willing to help. The room is big and comfortable. The sound-proof work is also effective, so I hardly hear any noise from rooms nearby.
However, note that the hotel is in the middle of a mountain. If you don’t drive, you have to rely on the car service which the hotel offers (free of charge but not always available). It is almost impossible to go by foot.
However, I must say the hotel staff has always tried their best to cater your needs, which I appreicate very much.
