"Even though the rooms were labeled as non-smoking the was a smell of smoke in the room. I suppose this is coming over the AC to the rooms. We changed rooms three times until we considered it bearable. The breakfast was not held in the normal breakfast location but a huge meeting/ball room. As such, the atmosphere was not the greatest. The quality of the food was great though."

"I've always yearned to visit Eastern Hokkaido, so I made a special trip from Sapporo by JR train to Obihiro. The two-and-a-half-hour journey took me through the mountains of central Hokkaido, finally arriving in this central city of the Tokachi Plain on the afternoon of March 13, 2026. Coincidentally, my room number was 313. When I opened the curtains, the JR train station was to my immediate right, and the Obihiro bus terminal to my immediate left. While Obihiro Station is almost encircled by hotels, the Richmond's location is absolutely superb. After getting off the train, I turned right (West Exit) from the ticket gate, walked about 30-40 meters to the end, faced a small shopping mall, and then turned right again (north side). I spotted the hotel immediately, even before exiting the building – no navigation needed! The room was spotless and incredibly comfortable. After checking in, I quickly went downstairs and explored the area around the hotel. The city was impeccably clean and remarkably quiet. I've never fallen in love with a city at first sight like this before. It's no longer just about whether the hotel is good; now I'm seriously considering moving to Obihiro. The next morning, I started my bus tour early and didn't return until after 9 PM. On the morning of the 15th, I had breakfast at the hotel's buffet restaurant. The restaurant is called 'Ye Guang Bei' (Night-glowing Cup), but it's perfectly fine for breakfast. You can get 'tipsy' even without alcohol here! I love this hotel, and I love this city."

"The location was great, and all the staff were incredibly kind, making for a very pleasant stay. It was also really convenient to be able to check the onsen's crowdedness on my smartphone. The breakfast was delicious, and I was really happy to try Obihiro's local specialty, butadon (pork bowl)."

"The surrounding hotels were very expensive and I was wondering what to do, but then I found one at the last minute for a reasonable price so I made a reservation. The interior is typical of a Toyoko Inn, but the building is new and clean. The rice balls at breakfast were freshly made and very delicious."

"Sparkling clean although understand a reason for that is that you can’t cook here or even use their cutlery. They just supply some cups (though there is a kitchen sink on the top floor by the fridge). This place doesn’t really have a lounge. A problem with sharing the ground floor lounge with a cafe is that when I’m sitting there a cafe waitress comes by expecting me to order something."

"The interior of this former love hotel has been renovated, and the atmosphere has changed quite a bit. While the exterior looks exactly the same, you wouldn't recognize it at first glance once you go up to the second floor. There's an undeniable lack of explanation. For example, how to enter the garage. What was extremely inconvenient was the lack of hanger hooks, let alone hangers, let alone closets. Am I supposed to just throw my clothes on the sofa after undressing? I was relieved that they lent me hangers after I sent an inquiry."

"First of all, the hotel is quite small and includes the lobby, the restaurant and the room itself. But more importantly, many things do not make sense. There is only one elevator in use (there is another one in the corner which is not in use), as a result, causing chaos in the rush hour. The public bath is so-called a natural hot springs but that is quite common in that area, it is open to the public so many local people use it. Upon the small restaurant, they also put a lot of unnecessary stuff to make the situation worse, e.g. they put an old engine (those you see in the museum), and the dinner table is just right next to it. In terms of service, the front desk people have very limited English ability but I notice that one of the female staff in the restaurant can speak fluently (she remind me to take out a cup of coffee in English). Honestly, it doesn't make sense....."

"The triple room we booked was spacious and well maintained. Bathroom was huge with an onsen bathtub and we are very pleased with our stay. This is good value for money. Onsite carpark was ¥500 overnight."
