"The butler service was incredibly warm and attentive. They contacted me a day before my arrival to ask about my train schedule and offered a complimentary pickup service. Upon arrival, my room was upgraded, and they provided information on various services, like ensuring I had enough bottled water, complimentary red bean dessert, swimming pool guidelines, and offering daily room cleaning. The hotel facilities were also excellent; the swimming pool had great water quality and was kept at a comfortable 28℃. Plus, the package price was very reasonable."

"Plans change unexpectedly. My trip to Jieyang was switched to Shantou, and I booked the Shantou Imperial Hotel on Trip.com just half a day in advance. This isn't my first time staying here; it's a well-established five-star hotel, close to the high-speed rail station and not too far from popular food spots. After booking, I quickly contacted Linna, the butler I'd added on WeChat previously, to arrange a pickup from the high-speed rail. She responded promptly, asking for my train number, arrival time, and the number of people (very reliable!). She told me to just keep an eye out for her call upon arrival. To my surprise and delight, she also arranged a free room upgrade. Plans truly do change. While waiting at Puning high-speed rail station, I was informed that my train would be delayed by about 40 minutes. I contacted Linna immediately to avoid having the hotel car wait unnecessarily, but she informed me that the hotel's pick-up vehicle had already departed. She instructed me to look for a staff member in a red uniform upon arrival. I actually felt a bit bad about the delay. Once the train arrived at Shantou Station, as I exited the gate, I saw a sharp-looking young man in a red uniform standing at the exit, looking directly at our train's exit. We made eye contact instantly. He politely asked for my surname and confirmed some basic check-in information, then enthusiastically helped us with our luggage and guided us to the parking lot to get in the car (it felt quite fancy having a dedicated escort! 😜). During this time, he even called the driver to move to a more convenient pick-up spot to minimize our walking distance. After a few twists and turns, we finally arrived at the hotel. We quickly checked in, dropped off our luggage in the room, and began our culinary adventure. Given that it's an older five-star hotel, I must admit the facilities are a bit dated. The room also had some older fixtures and a faint smell of smoke. While the air conditioning seemed to help, an air purifier would have been even more effective in improving the room's scent. On a positive note, the water pressure in the room was excellent, making for a very comfortable and refreshing shower. The next day, when I contacted Linna to arrange a ride to the high-speed rail station, she was very proactive in communicating and coordinating with hotel management, even though our departure time was quite early (outside the hotel's normal shuttle hours). In the end, she ensured we arrived at the high-speed rail station safely and on time. To sum it up, while the hotel's hardware might not be the absolute best, the attentive and thoughtful service from the staff truly surprised and impressed me. This kind of warm service makes every guest feel genuinely cared for. For future stays in Shantou, I'll most likely choose the Imperial Hotel again. Such excellent service undoubtedly makes every guest feel comfortable and at ease."

"My actual stay experience: The soundproofing was quite effective, the bustling street outside didn't disturb the quiet inside the room, which is great for light sleepers. The room was spacious and bright, the zero-pressure mattress was comfortable, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The front desk was very responsive and gave reliable recommendations for routes. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit."

"To put it in two parts, this hotel is in a good location. There are many shops, snack bars and restaurants around. It is brightly lit at night and quite lively. The room is also very large. There is disinfectant in the toilet. But the service is not good. For a hotel worth several hundred yuan, apart from the two bottles of water provided, if you want more bottles of water, you have to pay for them. It is very uncomfortable. The most important thing is that the breakfast is very bad. The standard breakfast dishes for 30 yuan only have 4 kinds of small pickles"

"This time we brought our child to Shantou for a trip. The little one loves the beach, and we adults prefer newer hotels, so we skipped the old town and booked the Chao Hong Ji City Hotel. The front desk service was excellent; they arranged a room with a sea view for us, which instantly lifted our spirits. Although there was a slight odor in the room on the first day, after we reported it, the staff immediately moved us to another room. They also brought us earplugs for two consecutive days, and I feel a bit bad for troubling them so much, but I'm incredibly grateful to the staff. The breakfast was simple but very distinctive, with delicious粿条 (Guo Tiao) and great coffee. This trip to Shantou was fantastic, and half the credit goes to the hotel. It allowed us to experience a different side of Shantou's scenery and service. Oh, and the Binhai Avenue is right downstairs, perfect for a stroll, and it's about a 20-minute drive to Golden Coast. It's ideal for friends who want to see the sea. We'll definitely stay here again next time we visit!"

"Hygiene: I am particularly dissatisfied with the hygiene. There is a damp carpet smell when you come in. This kind of carpet is very unfriendly to guests with allergies. There is even cigarette ashes left by the previous customer on the carpet. Service: Although the hygiene is very poor, I gave feedback to the customer service department and they immediately came to vacuum the carpet. This is not bad. Facilities: Because the room had a strong damp smell, I turned on the air conditioner all night. The air conditioner kept making strange noises and I kept being woken up. I couldn't sleep at all. I originally wanted to change rooms because of the air conditioner, but I thought about moving to another room after vacuuming the carpet and smelling the musty smell, so I couldn’t bear it."
