I stayed at Settha Palace Hotel during my visit to Vientiane, and overall, it was a decent experience with a mix of positives and areas for improvement.
The hotel’s location is definitely one of its biggest strengths. It’s right in the middle of everything, close to the river and within easy reach of the main Songkran celebration areas, which made getting around very convenient.
The property itself has a charming Lao-French colonial style. While it is an older hotel, it has been maintained reasonably well and retains a certain classic character. The staff were excellent, professional, friendly, and always willing to assist, which added positively to the stay.
However, the room was somewhat disappointing. While the minibar was well stocked, basic amenities were missing, not even essentials like a toothbrush or shampoo were provided, which was surprising for a hotel of this category. There were also some maintenance issues: the bathroom had leaking pipes, and the air conditioning wasn’t working initially, though to their credit, they promptly sent a technician to fix it.
The pool area is visually quite pleasant, surrounded by greenery, giving it a relaxing vibe. That said, there were quite a few frogs around the pool, which became a bit irritating. While I personally didn’t mind, some other guests, especially European travelers, were clearly uncomfortable.
Overall, it’s a good property with great location and strong potential, but it could significantly improve with better room maintenance and attention to guest amenities.

Guest UserAn Unexpectedly Excellent Stay in Vientiane
My recent trip to Vientiane was a truly satisfying experience. Everything, from the environment and cleanliness to the service and facilities, deserves high praise. Let me share my genuine thoughts.
🌿 Environment: The hotel is ideally located in the heart of the Vientiane That Luang Lake Special Economic Zone, far from the city's hustle, bustle, and dust. The air is fresh, and the surroundings are quiet, ensuring an undisturbed rest. The hotel's decor is stylish and elegant, with intricate rosewood carvings adorning the lobby and public areas, giving it a grand and sophisticated feel. Just outside the hotel, there's a strip of restaurants and bars, making dining and drinks incredibly convenient. An evening stroll around the area is particularly enjoyable.
🧹 Cleanliness: This deserves special mention. The guest rooms were spotless; every corner and crevice was meticulously cleaned. The bathroom and toilet were free of odors and hidden dirt, and the bedding was soft and pristine. All toiletries were provided, showing great attention to detail. The public areas were equally well-maintained, making for a truly comfortable stay.
🤝 Service: The front desk staff were warm, polite, and spoke both Chinese and English fluently, making check-in and check-out efficient and smooth. Their service throughout was attentive and professional, and any issues were promptly and appropriately resolved. A special thank you to Ms. Bess at the front desk; her service was exceptionally kind, and she answered all my questions patiently.
🏊 Facilities: The facilities are very new. All guest rooms are designed as suites, featuring separate living and sleeping areas, independent bathrooms, and private balconies with beautiful views. Each room is equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows, a desk, a dining table, air conditioning, a refrigerator, and wireless internet. The hotel also boasts an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and both Chinese and Western restaurants. The breakfast selection is extensive, with a focus on Chinese and Asian flavors.

Nice hotel, close to the night market. Pool and second restaurant are on the top floor with great views. Staff was great, kind, and helpful. I'd definitely stay there again. I l9ved the way they decorated the place: artistic and tasteful.

That Luang was within walking distance. The restaurant was right in front of the hotel, so it was fine even when it was raining. The mall and convenience store were a little far away, so walking would be difficult.
The hotel was excellent, with a bathtub. There were also two showers, so you could fill the bathtub with water while showering. The staff were very kind. Daily cleaning was thorough, so I had a comfortable stay. Breakfast was included, but I had to pay for dinner at the restaurant. It was high quality and delicious. I had a wonderful time.

Clean and good quality hotel.
On the downside, the air conditioning let a large puddle of water inside when it started to rain outside.
At breakfast, where we arrived half an hour before it was due to end, the hot food had run out.
The picture shows all the protein I could find in the thermal bath. There wasn't even an omelet or eggs available in the open kitchen.

Guest UserMy stay here was incredibly comfortable and pleasant. I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Manager Liao for their thoughtful and attentive assistance; they were efficient and reliable. The hotel's environment is clean and tidy, and the breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of options. Plus, it boasts a prime, expansive view of the Mekong River. It's truly suitable for both business trips and leisure travel. I genuinely recommend it!

CASPER HUANG
Located on the border, this is a casino hotel, suitable for travelers who come here to gamble, or for those who want to easily get to the city center the next day. The breakfast is average, and some of the carpets in the hotel rooms have cigarette burn marks, but otherwise everything is fine.
