Nestled in 2,500 acres of an 800-year-old native tall tree forest, this award-winning luxury lodge uniquely provides a New Zealand experience. It's a wilderness sanctuary offering breathtaking terrain and multi-award-winning accommodation, with a commitment to sustainability and adventure.
Located just outside Rotorua, the heart of Māori culture in New Zealand, the Lodge's elegant, ecology-inspired architectural style uses native timbers felled from trees on the site and local stone, echoing natural beauty and simplicity. Treetops is a haven for outdoor lovers and offers seven streams, year-round on-site trout fishing, a swimming lake, and over 70 km of private hiking and adventure trails. Activities such as horse riding, archery, clay shooting, and cycling are also available. Exclusive for Treetops guests, our helicopter is offered to visit the region's geothermal experiences and lakes, deep sea fishing and airport and lodge transfers.
Treetops also offers Signature Experiences: the 4WD 'Estate to Plate' Safari and Wild Māori Food and Wellness Trails. The dedicated Wilderness Spa provides traditional Māori wellness rituals and treatments, with 'under the forest' hot tubs, a sauna, a gym, and two outdoor Jacuzzis. Treetops guests have access to our own helicopter for visits to geothermal wonders, deep-sea fishing, and airport transfers.
For golf enthusiasts, Treetops extends a personal invitation to their sister lodge, The Kinloch Club, in nearby Taupo. The Kinloch Club boasts an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed Signature golf course. It is recommended to book in advance during the high season.
Treetops follows an 'Estate to Plate' dining philosophy, with a dedicated team of chefs featuring ingredients reared or grown on the estate. Each day, our menu includes a choice of estate game, estate-reared beef and lamb, trout (if caught by a guest!), sustainably caught fish, and local produce. Our own estate-grown fruit and vegetables, as is our own Manuka Honey, are organic and 100% pesticide-free, and we harvest native herbs daily from the forest.
"Amazing ambience and landscape inside of the Premise. Self-guided hiking tours were really nice, and I enjoy seeing all the wild lives inside of the lodge. Spacious rooms and amazing views. I enjoyed my stay very much. "
