"The hotel has a total of nine rooms, an English-style villa with a swimming pool. The food was quite good, and I especially appreciated the tea selection, the brand Peekoh Tea, which had a sweet aftertaste. The curry and rice for dinner were both delicious and beautifully presented. There was some noise from insects chirping at night and trains passing after 6 a.m., so there was some noise. For example, room #1 is right next to the restaurant corridor, so the soundproofing was average. At under 1,000 yuan per night, I think the value is much better than the Eleven Hotels in China. This villa is part of a chain with about nine locations. I hope their business continues to grow."

"It's a bit far from the city center, and there aren't many dining options nearby. It's roughly on par with domestic hotels like Atour or Ji Hotel, so don't set your expectations too high. The breakfast has a decent selection, but it probably won't suit Chinese palates. For this area and standard, I guess it's acceptable."

"A wonderful stay with absolutely breathtaking views. Wherever you look, you’re surrounded by rolling mountains, and the grounds are beautiful with lots of native wildlife; you really feel at one with nature.
The service was exceptional throughout. All staff were attentive, kind, and genuinely eager to help. A special mention to the reception team, especially Jenovia, who was incredibly friendly and helpful, showing us around and making us feel very welcome from the start. The hotel is also very family-friendly, with a small play park and thoughtful touches like towel animals from housekeeping (Ravi) that made our little girl’s day.
Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, including both Western and Sri Lankan options. A few very small improvements (such as having bacon readily available, colder milk at breakfast, and ice with poolside drinks) would make the experience truly five-star, but these are minor details.
Rooms were clean and comfortable with all amenities provided, and overall the level of service really stood out. If you’re looking for stunning views, a peaceful setting, and excellent hospitality, this is a fantastic choice and one I’d happily recommend."

"The whole family traveled and booked a suite. The room was large and clean. The first alcohol and drinks in the minibar were free. Thumbs up. The hotel has a super beautiful view. It is a little far from the center of Kandy, but it is very quiet. The lobby is beautiful outside. The swimming pool is not heated and a little cold. Breakfast is a la carte system with many choices. But there are some places that must be complained. First of all, the suite has a jacuzzi, but it was not filled with water in advance. It was very dirty inside and the water was very slow. It took an hour to clean up. My waist was about to break. The water was filled for two and a half hours. It was dark when the water was enough. There were mosquitoes everywhere. It was not used at all. Bad review. The second point is their dinner, which starts at 7 o'clock. We were the first table to order at 6:50 on the first day. It was already 8 o'clock when the food was served. It is not friendly to travel with young children. We decided to go out for dinner the next day, but someone called at 9 o'clock in the evening to ask if we would like to go to the restaurant for dinner, which directly woke up the children. . ."

"The service is very good, the environment is average, the room is very humid and there are big bugs. The advantage is that the location is very good. It is on the top of the mountain in Kandy and has a good view. When you wake up in the morning, you can hear the chanting of Buddha's Tooth Relic Temple and see the morning mist."

"The room looked clean and big, but it smelled very bad, and the air conditioner was very powerful! The buffet at our own expense was really great, and the price was not expensive. The food was better than in China!"

Misty Hills Villa Kadugannawa boasts the most incredible view over local mountains, best enjoyed if you are taking a cooling dip in the (small, but perfectly positioned) infinity pool! My husband and I were very well looked after during our short stay. The hotel staff served lovely breakfasts, organised two dinners for us and booked a tuk tuk for a day trip to Kandy. They also surprised me with a beautiful little cake on my birthday and even sang to me! The only small points I would make is that the dinners are not actually cooked on site - and that the staff did not offer to clean or make up our bedroom during our 3 night stay. Nevertheless, much kindness and warmth was demonstrated towards us and we loved the rural position of the property.

A three- and two-story villa has two bedrooms, and the third will be locked. The room is OK for local consumption. Breakfast in the morning, it is white rice breakfast, not curry, fresh food, OK
The surrounding environment is very good, wake you up in the morning by wild peacocks
The disadvantage is that the hot water in the bath is very short, and the water is cold before one person finishes washing.

Ivan GRIt is a beautiful hotel with a beautiful view. However, walls are thin and you can heard a lot of noise. It is not easy to get there because it is located almost in the top of the mountain. Another good thing is that the restaurant closes at 10pm and food is good and cheap. We didn’t find the swimming pool since we stayed just one night. It was a nice stay by the way and breakfast was good.
PD: We booked double room that it is supposed to have a king/queen bed but it was two individual beds put together.

The beds are comfortable, and the overall ambiance feels homely yet refined. While the property is generally well-maintained, a few minor maintenance touches could make it even better.

The Good
The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture.
The Bad
The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient.
The Ugly
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort.
Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

The landscape is good, December is not the flood season with less water. The air is very fresh, but I was bitten by the water for the first time in my life and the blood flowed. The waiters at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming.
The facilities are really not good. There was no hot water in the bath for a few minutes, and there was no hot water later. The whole room has a small mirror on the bathroom sink. Toothbrush and toothpaste are not provided, and the hair dryer has to ask the hotel for it. Bottled water is not provided, there is a small bucket of drinking water in the room to drink. No quilt? There are two blankets found in the cabinet that will cover it.
The concept of ecological environmental protection can be understood, and the comfort level is definitely discounted. Finally, it is difficult to go to the hotel's mountain path. If you encounter the rainy season, there may be a landslide risk.

One issue - no lift. So people who cant take stairs are unable to go to bar above or spa below.

Kiana MendozaAbsolutely stunning, giant compound with an extensive history! They even offer a history walking tour but unfortunately there weren’t enough people signed up to make the tour happen. If you’re looking for a “colonial” stay, this is a great place. I recommend just walking around to see it for yourself. It’s also right on Kandy Lake, so it’s a nice walk (and not too far from the Kandyan Culture Center and the Sacred Tooth Temple
Meals were good, but service sometimes is a little messy. Buffet was missing things like tongs or a cloth over the tray handles (which were hot to touch), but there’s a lot of servers walking around so I’m sure they’ll be able to do double-checks on this

The location is excellent, within walking distance of major destinations such as shopping malls, Kandy Lake, and the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Hygiene is acceptable, but the room had a strong odor, and the facilities are rather old.

The owners and employees at this hotel are so, so lovely.
Unfortunately their hotel is not. I almost feel catfished as many of the photos highlighted the bar and pool party atmosphere. This was not the case - the pool was a decent size but in the shade and I actually didn’t see anyone in it. The pool party drinking shots I highly suspect were perhaps not a genuine source.
The same goes for the bar which is massive and attended to by several lovely young, bored gentlemen as both times I popped up (once for dinner) I was the only patron. Again no party atmosphere or even people - which is a shame as it is a big venue.
Fortunately next door was another venue for some decent cocktails and music which saved the boredom somewhat.
The bedroom was a decent size with a small fridge (but didn’t work), the bathroom was small, felt dirty, no hand soap or soap for the shower (apart from leftover previous occupants - and that was gross).
The pressure was poor making showering difficult and there was plaster on the floor from some damage - not cleaned up.
The bed was massive and comfortable with air conditioning and a fan so sleep was good.
Finally, and to repeat, the staff were lovely. Very hospitable and the location is about a ten minute walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Kandy Lake. So great location.
Would I stay there again - no. Would I pop in to say hello to the owners and next door for a cocktails - possibly!
