It is far from Yufuin Station and you must take a car to get there. The hotel will provide pick-up and you can call them when you arrive at the station. The room is a bit old, but clean, and comes with a private open-air hot spring. The booking type includes the use of the family hot spring, but it's nothing special. Breakfast and dinner are both very rich, and the staff will come to the room to make the bed during dinner.
Finally, the staff was very friendly and the experience was great 👍

Location is great, you just need to take bus 36 to the hotel, the bus station is just right next to the Yufuin station.
Hotel is right next to the famous Lake, n you just walk straight down to the main touristy, shopping street, everything is just right there, the inhouse onsen is nice too, although the water in one of them is not hot enough. But be considerate inside your room because its not sound proof, so just tread softly, speak softly too. I'll definitely go back again.

The facilities may look a little old, but they were clean and well-maintained, so there was no inconvenience at all! There was a train track and a very pretty mountain on the way to the accommodation, so I took a lot of pictures! The location of the accommodation was good because it was about a 20-minute walk from Yufuin Bus Terminal, but it was a bit far from tourist attractions such as Kinrinko Lake and Plant Village! However, the accommodation provided free bicycles, so it took about 20-30 minutes to ride a bicycle to the tourist attractions!! I pulled my bicycle around on the crowded streets, but it was hard to pull it every time, so I just left it in one place and played around, but luckily no one stole it. The tourist attractions are grouped together, so it was easy to travel, and there were definitely a lot of walkers! It seemed like a lot of Japanese people also traveled there! The best thing was the hot spring!! I bought a raw egg at a convenience store and made an onsen egg! (But maybe because it was cold, the water wasn't hot, so I soaked it for a long time.) I don't think they change the hot spring water every time, but that's how Japanese bathing culture is! The shower area before entering the hot spring was cozy and had warm water and all the shower supplies, so it was very comfortable and nice! The heating was controlled by a heater, so it was a little dry, but I think it wasn't bad because I slept with a wet towel! I slept on a tatami room with a blanket, and it was softer than I thought, and I didn't bring pajamas because they said I could wear a yukata..ㅎ The owner was also very kind, and I paid the hot spring fee separately on site! It only accepts cash! (We paid 500 yen for 2 people) I didn't think there would be a good restaurant for dinner, so I bought a lot of dinner on the way back from the tourist site to the accommodation because there were many convenience stores! (Try eel rice bowl for lunch!! I recommend Yufu Mabushi Shin Main Branch!!) There was welcome sake, and there was cold water and boiled water! It seemed to boil automatically when the temperature went down to a certain level, which was amazing.. There was a refrigerator, microwave, and Wi-Fi! You should bring a pig nose! Oh, and the train tracks are close, so you can hear the sound of the trains from time to time! But it's okay because they don't run while you're sleeping!! I went there right after I arrived because they said they could store my luggage, and it was super convenient because I was able to check in right away!! (I think I went around 11:30) Next time, I want to come with my mom and older sister for a mother-daughter trip! ㅎㅎ(tmi..^_^)

The hotel said it provides free shuttle from JR to hotel upon arrival at Yufuin with prior booking via email, but they didn’t reply email until you called them. Finally we need to walk to the hotel with our bulky luggages.
During check in, we checked with the female staff in short hair whether we can book a shuttle the next day, and she said they don’t have this service. When I asked again why they said in the booking description that the hotel provided free shuttle if they actually didn’t, she kept saying ‘No’!
When she explained the dinner arrangement, I told her one of our family members doesn’t eat beef. Then, she gave us a poker face and blamed us for not telling her earlier. However, the point is the hotel couldn’t be connected via email, and they didn’t specify that guests should have informed them the preferred meal before arrival.
Except this female staff at reception, other service staff are polite and friendly.

Fantastic accommodation. There's 5 onsen that you can try out during your stay. Food is really good with free flow alcohol for dinner. Really sweet of the staff to prepare snacks and a complimentary Polaroid shot when you check out. Everything is just so comfortable and fuss-free.

Hot spring inns are incredibly relaxing, and the cleanliness of the rooms is always commendable. The soft, comfortable mattresses ensure a restful night's sleep and complete relaxation. The staff are friendly and helpful, always eager to help. In such a comfortable environment, it truly feels like home.

The environment is so clean, spotless
Especially the toilet, very comfortable and clean
The room we booked is Gaoyue, which has plenty of space for four people.
The counter staff was very friendly and carefully confirmed the vegetarian portion with us.
When we went to the supermarket to buy things, we met the lady at the counter XDXD
The bath water temperature in the large public bath is just right
Breakfast was also great
Thank you to everyone at Shanbo Hotel

I didn't have high expectations for the kaiseki course meal, so it was okay. The room was spacious, clean, and warm. The open-air bath, family bath, and hot spring were really nice. It's a bit too far to walk from Yufuin Station, so I recommend taking a taxi. The staff were friendly, and the person who served the food spoke Korean well, which was nice. There was also a Korean staff member at check-out, so it was convenient.

The service they provide is up and beyond. I love how this whole place is set up in such a way for people to mingle. I wish I could have stayed longer and chat with the people. Unfortunately I think it was off peak season so there weren't many people. The owner is generous and friendly, people that stays there are good natured people. The owners sang country road to everyone that leaves in the morning, very heart warming and eye teary especially when I met a wonderful old couple from kagoshima during the wonderfully made breakfast. The common area, which is the dining area, has a scenic view of outside, and the main city that lights up a little at night and beautifully decorated interior. It feels like home. I also enjoyed the indoor onsen too. My favourite bit was the classical music playing in the background, and how accessible it is, like a backyard. If you stay here, return the deed by being good guests.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and the accommodation was fantastic. We arrived at night, and the walk there felt a little eerie, but I imagine a bus would be fine during the day. We spent the day exploring Lake Kinrin and then made sure to get to the *sotbap* (hot pot rice) restaurant right opposite as soon as it opened. We also enjoyed the hot spring both in the evening and again in the morning – it was absolutely wonderful!

GGuest UserIt was really really good..
I was worried because there weren't many reviews, but it was so much better than I imagined, and if I ever get another chance to go to Yufuin, I'd go to Tamayura again! This isn't an ad^^.
The kaiseki had such a mediocre rating, but it wasn't anything to worry about. I was so full and the food was so good that I couldn't even eat the sushi I bought at the mart properly. Breakfast was also really delicious. In particular, all the fish dishes were delicious!
The facilities were also really good. There were some reviews saying it was cold, but the room was warm when the heater was turned on! However, since the shower area isn't indoors, it might be cold if you go in the winter. However, it's the best in this weather. Basic amenities are provided, and there are yukatas!
And the best thing is that the owner and staff are so pretty and kind!
They even used a translator to communicate with us and treated us so well,
I felt good the whole time I was there ㅎㅎ
It's been a few days since I came back, so I'm just writing a review now
I hope the owner's wife and daughter read this review and remember us ㅎㅎ It was really the best! I highly recommend Tamayura! The best!!!!

GGuest UserAlthough the distance from the station is very close, the road is Chadora, so it is recommended to take a taxi.
The breakfast was very delicious, so I regret not booking with a plan including dinner.
Even though it is a semi-open-air bath, the cold wind is enough and thanks to the mini garden outside, the scenery and the sense of openness are not unfortunate.
Because I like to travel, I have been to many hotels and five-star hotels, but I can get the first hand to be kind and kind service. Thanks to the chef and other staff, the hotel's level has risen one more level.

GGuest UserThe hotel staff are friendly and attentive. It is a 10-minute drive from Yufuin Station to the hotel. The hotel has a shuttle service (it is not recommended to walk to the hotel). You need to make a reservation in advance for pick-up. There is a private bath in the hotel room. There are only about 10 rooms in the hotel. , basically you only see other guests during breakfast and dinner time. If you want a quiet space, this hotel is very suitable. The ingredients for breakfast and dinner are very fresh and exquisite, and it is worth praising the chef's thoughts.

Jjust travelerIf you failed to make a reservation at the ryokan you wanted, this is a great place to stay for a reasonable price.
Advantages:
1. Relatively cheaper price than ryokan. Except for a few cost-effective accommodations, prices like this are rare.
2. There is a restaurant in the same building.
3. Kinrin Lake is right in front of the building, so you can see the lake right from your room. Also, I think the biggest advantage is that you can see it without having to go outside on days when there is fog.
disadvantage:
1. It’s far from the station. If you have heavy luggage, I recommend taking a taxi.
2. Ironically, Kinlin Lake is right in front. Saying that Kinrin Lake is right in front of you means that there are tourists right in front of you. Not only rooms, but also public baths and even open-air baths can be accessed from outside. Rooms have curtains and public baths have opaque windows, but the open-air baths are finished by a wall that is lower than the height, so if you use the open-air baths during the day or when the sun is up, you need to have the courage to make naked eye contact with tourists. Please note that the side with an open-air bath has a women's bath on the day of check-in and a men's bath on the day of check-out.
3. Amenities are far away. In fact, normally it wouldn't be that far, just 10 minutes away, but the tourist attraction + countryside played a part. It was very dark with only sparse street lights, so using the flashlight function on your phone was essential.
Although I wrote about the shortcomings at length, I am overall satisfied with the accommodation!

GGuest UserThe hotel staff are mostly Korean, and the owner is also Korean. We booked a triple room on the first floor, which was conveniently close to the outdoor onsen. The room itself was spacious and clean. The onsen was also excellent.
We visited on a weekday, and it seemed like there were only two groups of guests, including us. It felt like we had the dining area and the onsen all to ourselves. Aside from briefly seeing them at the front desk, we didn't encounter the other guests at any other time.
We had booked a package that included dinner. The dinner was a delightful, multi-course Japanese meal (kaiseki-style), where each dish was introduced and served individually, only after the previous one was finished. Upon departure, a complimentary shuttle service to the station was provided.
However, getting there upon arrival was a bit tricky; we had to take a taxi (around 1000 JPY) as it involved an uphill walk, and it was quite hot. Walking would have taken 30-40 minutes.
The hotel is a convenient 10-15 minute walk from Kinrin Lake and the 'Fairytale Village.' You could easily visit these attractions in the morning, return, and then check out before departing.
If you need to do laundry, there's a coin-operated laundromat a 7-8 minute walk away (as shown in Pic 4). For those who prefer to buy their own breakfast, a convenience store is a 10-minute walk, conveniently located on the way to Kinrin Lake.

GGuest UserVery good hotel, clean and tidy, hot spring bath is also very good, the geographical environment is quiet. Quite late ~ 9pm to Yufuin, you can also arrange car transfers, breakfast is simple bread and eggs, etc., but it is also very good! I will choose this hotel next time I have the opportunity. thanks

KKAIPrivate hotel, a little bit away from the station, the station is 700 yen by taxi. The host is a couple who communicate in English politely and enthusiastically, and the room they gave was not bad. In the courtyard on the first floor, there is a bathing pond shared by the whole house, and mountains in the distance can be seen in the courtyard. The room facilities are simple and there is no elevator on the second floor. The beds are quite comfortable and you need to bring your own toiletries. The hotel is very close to Lake Kinrin. If you walk around early in the morning, you can see the white smoke on the surface of the lake. Although the breakfast arranged back is simple bread, juice and custard, it is convenient and free. After eating, went to Yuzhiping, a very nice Japanese town.
