This hotel offers a decent location, although it requires a bit of a walk from Zermatt train station. However, the reward is a beautiful Matterhorn view from the hotel room, which is a delightful feature. The breakfast was typical of Swiss hotels, but the real highlight was the impressive range of facilities, including an open-air jacuzzi, gym, sauna room, and indoor swimming pool, providing guests with various options for relaxation and recreation. As for the room itself, it met our expectations. Overall, a pleasant stay with some great amenities.

The best hotel I have ever stayed in during my trip to Switzerland. Take the train from zermtt and get off at Riffleberg station. After informing the hotel front desk in advance, someone will help you with your luggage. The reservation includes two meals, and the food is good. The main reason is that the scenery is really worth it, plus there are hot springs and saunas, which are very comfortable and comfortable. I recommend it as your first choice when visiting Zermatt. And after staying at this hotel, you don’t need to take a bus to the mountaintop station, because the scenery at the mountaintop station is not as good as the scenery at the hotel. We love the hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. The view from the balcony of our room gave us a clear view of the Matterhorn. The hotel is easily accessible from the Zermatt train station and the Town centre . We loved the room allocated and found it extremely comfortable. We also enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast buffet which was pretty extensive. Staff was really pleasant and helpful at all time. Our receptionist even escorted us to the room by stairs because their lift was not functional when we checked in. The only regret was that we were unable to utilise the sauna and swimming pool facilities due to time constraints. Will highly recommend the hotel to those who are looking for value for money stays whilst in Zermatt.

Close to the train station. Although I got an upgrade to a double room, it was small (the table in front of the bed takes a lot of space). The bathroom was big and clean but outdated. The balcony was nice but not really needed in winter. Everyone can enter the ski room and the individual locker cannot be locked. Perfect for thieves.

In addition, the main door is a bit difficult to find, you have to go up a few stairs and walk through a corridor to get there. I was so tired when I arrived in Zermatt that day, and it was painful to carry the luggage up the stairs. In short, the recommendation index is three and a half stars.

The hotel staff are sincere in their service and are very attentive to arranging the room, and there is someone at the front desk 24 hours a day. There are many types of breakfast food, but please note that the dining location is on the basement floor. The restaurant on the ground floor is purely for dinner. The hotel is right in front of the cemetery, but there is no darkness in the cemetery. The church, Kirchplatz and the Marmot fountain are also nearby. In the square, the horn performance starts at 6pm. I also encountered a procession of goats. It is about 10 minutes on foot from the station. Opposite the diagonal is the Zermatterhof, a 5-star hotel, and there is a two-carriage transfer to the station. The transfer here is 5 euros per person, but it is not necessary if the luggage is not too big. The inn is very clean with bedding. I was able to sleep well. The breakfast is also gorgeous and delicious. The staff are friendly and will hear your request.

The Matterhornlodge is located about a 5-10 min walk from the Zermatt station. We arrived at about 1pm and were informed that check-in was only at 2pm so we went for lunch and returned at around 2.30pm. We were greeted by Ruth, the proprietress of the hotel, who gave us a comprehensive briefing of the house rules and policies. Ruth was very warm, friendly, and charming; she was very guest-focused and was happy to find out more about where we were from and what we planned to do. Ruth even gave us recommendations for Bern when we told her we were going there next. Although the hotel is stated to be 4 stars, we were very impressed by the room and the amenities. The bathroom came with a bidet and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The room was also very spacious with enough room to open up 2 luggage bags. The towels and robes were thick, warm, and fluffy. The breakfast provided in the morning was also quite good with a decent selection of breads, cold cuts, cheese, and eggs. At checkout, Ruth also gave us a complimentary ride to the train station in her electric vehicle. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Matterhornlodge and we were very impressed by Ruth’s hospitality.
