Its reoomended to stay at this hotel. Location in tge middle between bus station and morning market. Its bigger than any hotel at at tokyo in this price. Front office can speak english. And helpfull. Check out time at 11.00am, but if you still have time to strolling arround before your schedule to go to other city, than you can leave your luggage at this hotel.

The hotel facilities are a bit old. On the first day, when I arrived at the front desk, the hotel seemed quite deserted, with hardly anyone around. It wasn't my first time having dinner at a similar hotel in Japan, but usually, the menu is in Japanese, just like for other Japanese guests. Here, it was in English, which felt a bit odd 😂. Since we didn't want to eat the same dinner on the second day, after some discussion, they provided us with a customized meal, which was pretty good. They also realized we could speak Japanese, so the service improved afterward. There are quite a few outdoor hot spring pools, and the scenery is nice! However, the facilities aren't as good as other Japanese hotels.

Before my trip, I booked a quadruple room at the Suimeikan hotel in Gero, Japan, through Trip.com. The booking confirmation stated '2 floor mattresses,' but the pictures showed two beds. I assumed the room configuration would be two beds and two floor mattresses. However, the front desk assigned me a room with four floor mattresses. I felt this wasn't what I had booked, and after almost an hour of fruitless discussion with the front desk, they insisted this was the room type I reserved. They said if I wanted a room with two beds, it would be considered an upgrade and require an additional payment of 17,600 JPY for two nights, which I obviously couldn't accept. Ultimately, I had to call Trip.com to complain. Trip.com's communication with the hotel also led nowhere, and in the end, Trip.com covered the cost. I really have to praise Trip.com's service here; their response to my complaint was very quick, and their solution after failing to negotiate with the hotel was decisive. I'm very satisfied with that, which is why I typically book all my travel through Trip.com. While their prices might sometimes be slightly higher than other platforms, their after-sales service is absolutely reliable. When issues arise, you realize that this slight premium is definitely worth it.

The hotel room is pretty big by Japan standards, and the feeling of the hotel is really grand! Lots of locals were staying there, but the rooms are a little bit dated. The toilet lights were quite dim and the bathrooms could use an update. However, everything worked perfectly and the stay was still extremely enjoyable! The hotel is situated right next to a bus stop so that makes things super convenient! There’s also a family mart behind the hotel (shortcut! go out of the main door, turn right, walk down the ramp, immediately turn right and right again into the small path, go up the stairs past the hotel park, then turn left and cross the small roads, and you’ll find the konbini) The hotel also rents out bicycles to hotel guests FOC, so you can take the bike literally anywhere! We rode to the supermarket (~10 mins away) and also down by the river (10/10 recommended!) and just explored lots around! Gifu is a lovely quiet town and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to experience a side of Japan that isn’t just Tokyo or Osaka.

The hotel room is spacious, cleanliness is good. Though the staff are young, they are very cheerful and helpful. First time experience to leave the shoes in the lobby locker, quite happy that the whole area is free from dust as no one can wear shoes inside. There has 3 free car parks around the hotel area for you to choose. Good location for visiting Magome-juku. Has a bundle of restaurants nearby with a nice cafe eating traditional toast. All toiletries are available at the lobby area. Worth to stay ïżŒagain.

Every year at the end of the year, I visit Takayama, mainly to see the snow scenery in Shirakawa-go, and this hotel has pretty much become my go-to choice. What I love most is the service; the staff are all incredibly warm and attentive, making for a very comfortable stay. Plus, you can book a private onsen, which is wonderfully quiet and relaxing – a real highlight of the trip. Last year, the room I stayed in had a beautiful Japanese tatami area, which really added to the traditional Japanese ambiance. It's a shame I couldn't book that room type this time; it seems they no longer have it, which is a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the overall experience was still excellent, and I'll likely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Takayama.

One of the most unforgettable stays we’ve ever had. From the moment my family stepped through the door, we were wrapped in a warm, cosy ambience that instantly made us feel at ease. The room was impeccably clean and wonderfully comfortable, offering the perfect space to relax and unwind. Both dinner and breakfast were nothing short of exceptional—each meal thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delightful. The onsen, overlooking a serene river view, was the true highlight, creating a tranquil and almost dreamlike experience. Every moment spent there felt precious and completely worthwhile.

The quality of the hotel is very high. It's conveniently located near the train station and a 15 minute walk to the old town. The spa is really nice, clean, and spacious. The family spa is a nice touch. Rooms are very large, comfortable beds, with a tub. The only drawback is breakfast. The restaurant is too small to accommodate guests. It's odd that it's common in Japan to have large hotels, with many guests, include breakfast, and then build a tiny restaurant. Makes no sense. Options are limited and food is the same every day. I wouldn't recommend it, but there's so few options nearby or in the town in general, that you basically have to eat there. Just go before 8 AM. Otherwise, the hotel is really nice.

The hotel is about 500 meters from Takayama Jr Station and 800 meters from Chaoshi Old Street. It has a superior location and convenient transportation. The hotel staff is warm and thoughtful, the breakfast is rich and delicious, and you can soak in hot springs. It is my first time staying in a Japanese hotel. I feel novel and the experience is very good. I will choose to stay here again when I come to Takayama

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff were polite and friendly throughout our visit. The location is excellent, just a three-mins walk from the Takayama Nohi Bus Center. The hotel is visible from the bus stop so it wasn't even necessary to check the map. It is also conveniently close to main attractions (e.g. the morning market) and souvenir shops. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed. We appreciated the hotel accommodating our request for a room near the elevator. The only drawback was the slightly dim lighting. The breakfast offered a good variety of choices in a quiet setting. A notable amenity is the complimentary access to the mist sauna and jacuzzi, which we enjoyed very much. We would definitely choose this hotel again on a future visit to Takayama.

DDavid BuffyMeatyAwesome hotel located just 5-10mins walk behind FamilyMart ie opposite the TAKAYAMA NOHI Bus Stn & JR. The check in was easy & front desk staff was very professional ensuring the process was easy & swift! The hotel has a great & large Hot Spring and outdoor Rotenburo Onsen they’re segregated Men-Women. The onsen lobby has large lounge space to relax, free ice cream and a large full length glass window overlooking you may sit on chairs & coin operated massage chairs enjoying the beautiful town and fabulous snow capped mountains at the edge of the town in the day & sunrise!! The morning Japanese breakfast options are plentiful, staffs are helpful and friendly too! To walk to the Old Houses District perhaps only take 15mins leisure walk but gets really quiet & dark by 6PM in March!

AAnonymous UserWe stayed at Mercure Hida Takayama during our road trip in Takayama and it was a great choice. The location is very convenient — just a few minutes’ walk from JR Takayama Station and close to many restaurants. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. After a long day of driving and sightseeing, the public bath on the top floor was perfect for relaxing. The hotel felt new and well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall experience was smooth and pleasant. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Takayama. Would definitely stay here again!!

CCrystallmoonIt was a wonderful stay in this Modern but yet a little traditional hotel. It is not fully a Ryokan but yet the whole hotel is on Tatami from lift lobby right to your room. Onsen was good as there are private and public pools available. Not forgetting serving free Ramen for supper is definitely a plus point especially in winter.

ZzizibehappyArriving in Takayama by highway bus, I chose to stay at the same Residence Hotel as my previous visit. It's incredibly convenient, located just a left turn from the Nohi Bus Terminal exit, making it zero distance from both the bus and JR stations. The luxury suite is huge, featuring a balcony, four beds, and a fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, a microwave, and a large refrigerator. The washing machine with a dryer was an absolute lifesaver. Even better, all the drinks in the fridge were complimentary, including two 2L bottles of mineral water, beer, sake, green tea, and cola. Basic condiments like salt, soy sauce, pepper, and cooking oil were also provided. There's a supermarket right next door, perfect for buying Hida beef and cooking up a feast.

GGuest UserTokyu Stay Hida-Takayama MusubinoYu I had a wonderful stay at Tokyu Stay Hida-Takayama Musubi no Yu, and it was truly one of the highlights of my trip. 👍 Pros Superb Location The location is perfect — it’s right next to both the bus terminal and the train station. This made arrival and departure extremely easy, especially when traveling with luggage. Everything felt very convenient. Plenty of Restaurants Nearby There are many restaurants within walking distance, so finding a place to eat was never a problem. Whether you want local Hida beef or simple Japanese dishes, there are lots of options around. FamilyMart Around the Corner Having a FamilyMart just around the corner was very convenient. It was easy to grab snacks, drinks, or anything we needed at any time. Good Breakfast The breakfast was good, with a nice variety of dishes. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying — a great way to start the day before sightseeing. Private Onsen Experience One of the best parts of our stay was visiting the private onsen. It was so relaxing and peaceful, and it felt like a special experience after a long day of walking. Definitely a memorable highlight! ⭐ Overall Tokyu Stay Hida-Takayama MusubinoYu is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Takayama. With its unbeatable location, convenient surroundings, and relaxing private onsen, it offers both comfort and a unique Japanese experience. I would happily stay here again.

MM60550****Environment and Service: The hotel is quite large and relatively new, with a big courtyard perfect for a stroll. There's also a shuttle service to and from the station. The only minor drawback is that rooms on one side face the train tracks, which can be a bit noisy, and the soundproofing isn't great.
