Amazing place with amazing staff! Facilities are just absolutely amazing and the food is just so authentic and tasty.
I also want to say that I have tattoos so, I wasn't able to enter the public onsens but the privates and the one in my room barely made me miss it.
Also, souvenir shop is great and the yukatas that they lend you are just absolutely lovely.
The hotel's location is excellent! đ Using the Hakone Free Pass, we took the Odakyu Line for free to Machida Station, then used our Suica card to transfer to the JH and TY lines to Shin-Takashima Station. From there, it was just a short walk across one intersection to the hotel. It's in the same building as KT, so it was easy to find. We checked in at the front desk on the 9th floor. The room wasn't very big, a rectangular shape, but we managed to fit one suitcase by the door and another on the desk by the window. After dropping off our luggage, we took a fifteen-minute stroll to Yokohama Station for some ramen đ and to browse the drugstores. I was surprised by how lively Yokohama Station was at night. The next morning, we had a very hearty breakfast (seafood rice was my favorite â definitely a highlight!). We then took the train to Kamakura and Enoshima. On the way back, we got off at Ishikawacho Station from Kamakura-koko-mae Station and had some delicious Shokusai Wagyu, then braved the rain to explore Chinatown. On the third morning, the weather was beautiful, so we decided to walk ten minutes to Yokohama Landmark Tower and Minato Mirai 21 to check them out đ. We got back at 8:45, just in time to enjoy a delicious breakfast. Check-out was at 10:00, and the elevators were at their busiest then, so expect to queue. You can help yourself to skincare products and other amenities at the front desk. Apart from not providing bottled water, everything else was perfect.
The room was quite small, but it was really warm inside. The hotel service was good, and the facilities were decent, especially the mattress which was quite soft and comfortable to sleep on. The hotel also provided cooling foot patches, which felt very refreshing and comfortable, as well as face masks and basic skincare products, which were also quite good to use.

Not bad. I can see they are trying to make this property more known to international guests from different countries. Two dire problems: the food was extremely salty. With the exception of the Teppan dinner, all of the meals we had here had so much sodium content. Also, their food in general is not of high quality and tastes pretty much the same across all dishes. Please make improvements.
And another thing I would highly recommend is that the manager lady learn English so that next time I visit this property and have to communicate in English and ask for some help, she doesnât get sassy or mad at me for requesting another staff member who can speak English. I really needed some help with golf reservations and understandably it is not her business that we had to go golfing the next day. However, I didnât realize it was such a rude thing to ask for another employee who could understand what I was saying when she couldnât understand my requests specifically because of her lack of English proficiency. For this property to become popular with international guests, it would be a wholesome idea for the chief manager to learn to speak better English anyways.
I guess she knew that she was being rude by hitting the desk because she came up to me and gave me her business card (without my asking and finally in a nice manner) when I merely asked a younger staff member if the angry lady was the manager. She must have known that she was giving me attitudes.
When you are in the hospitality business, please donât forget that guests are there to enjoy their tripâsavoring each momentânot to feel uncomfortable or be bothered by staffâs attitudes.

The hotel's location is excellent!đ Coming from Tokyo, we took the Odakyu Line OH01 (starting station) from Shinjuku West Exit to Odawara Station OH47. From there, we just walked across the platform to transfer to the Hakone Tozan Railway to Hakone-Yumoto Station OH51. After exiting the station, we crossed the pedestrian bridge, took the elevator down to the river, and walked across the red bridge, and there was the hotel. The path is very flat, perfect for those traveling with luggage. Since we only booked our Hakone stay two days in advance, there were no connecting rooms available. We stayed in a standard room the first night and then moved to a Japanese-style room the second day, which had a great view. The hotel breakfast included natto, and the rest was pretty standard. If you go early, it's less crowded, but after 8 AM, you'll likely have to queue for a table. You can also take a public bus from the hotel to Togendai or Gotemba, but buses are less frequent after 9:30 AM, so it's advisable to leave early. All in all, while the hotel was a bit pricey, its convenient location and multiple transportation options made it worthwhile.
Location: It was quite convenient that there's an elevator directly from Exit 4 of Odori Station in Japan, with the hotel's name on it. Of course, Yokohama Station would be even more convenient.
Service: Pretty good. I didn't encounter anyone who spoke Chinese at the front desk, but it wasn't a big issue. One day, I met a cleaning lady who was Chinese, and she was very friendly.
Cleanliness: Excellent, very new.
Facilities: The twin room was quite spacious (for Japan), and I slept comfortably. The kitchen in the room was fully equipped, which was great! It's a shame I didn't get a chance to buy meat and cook it myself. However, other aspects were a bit lacking; there were no complimentary skincare products like lotion, and the toiletries and hairdryer were quite basic. There's a common lounge area on one floor with plenty of amenities, and the coffee machine worked very well.
The Fujisawa Smile Hotel has an excellent location, less than a 10-minute walk from Fujisawa Station, making it very convenient for visiting Kamakura, Enoshima, and Shonan Kaigan Park. The area around Fujisawa Station is bustling with various shopping malls, offering a wide range of dining and shopping options to suit any budget. I was confident in the hotel's cleanliness. Initially, my room faced the street and was a bit noisy. I mentioned my poor sleep to the front desk, and they immediately moved me to a quiet room. For my last night, I was even given a room on a higher floor. I originally planned a two-night trip but extended it by one night. I love Fujisawa and Kamakura!

After seeing a recommendation from a WeChat influencer, I booked this hotel đš, and it was absolutely amazing! đđ
The price might seem a bit steep at first glance, but it's definitely worth every penny. I'm very satisfied! đ
The hotel is located halfway up the mountain. Outside the hotel, there are hot springs. If you arrive before 3:00 PM, you can go and enjoy the hot springs âšïž first.
Check-in was very smooth, with smiling service. The overall design is a traditional Japanese garden style, ancient, elegant, and interesting. The intricate details of the decor are also worth appreciating. đ
The hotel's 6th floor has exclusive private hot springs for guests, open from 5 AM to midnight â super nice!
The absolute best part was the dinner buffet at the restaurant. There were so many choices, both Japanese and Western. The quality of the beef and sweet shrimp đŠ was excellent, and there was a wide variety of drinks too â everything you could possibly want. It's the GOAT!
The breakfast buffet was also great; the ramen was the best! âșïž
Luggage storage đ was also very smart and convenient.
This hotel deserves a 5-star rating, and I'll definitely visit again if I have the chance! âš

đïžâšăHakone Indigo Hotel: A Dreamlike Mountain Retreată
This was my first stay at Hakone GĆra Indigo, and I was truly rejuvenated by the ambiance. The hotel is nestled in a hot spring resort surrounded by mountains; opening the window reveals layers of greenery and distant clouds and mist, as beautiful as a painting.
The room design is modern yet elegantly Japanese, and the open-air onsen was fantastic. The spring water was smooth and comforting, instantly washing away a day's fatigue. Breakfast was also incredibly impressive, using fresh local ingredients; you could feel the attention to detail even in the bread and juice.
The staff were friendly and attentive, with every greeting feeling warm, making you feel right at home. The overall experience exceeded expectations, and it's worth revisiting, whether you're a couple, a family, or a solo traveler. đ
The only thing worth mentioning is that the in-room onsen water seemed to be completely diluted; you could even call it a 'fake' onsen. It lacked the typical onsen smell and was essentially just hot water.

Very Good
GGuest UserI spent a wonderful night here during New Year's Eve. The waiter barely understands people and foreign languages, but he is friendly and good at communication. I booked a public bathroom first, but then I changed it to a private bath when there was room. My satisfaction improved a lot! The hotel is very close to HakoyĆ-Yumoto Station, and the taxi cost was less than 1,000 yen. Later, we couldn't get a taxi and it was very comfortable for us to walk to the station for 15 minutes with our childrenđłïžđ

AAnonymous UserWe booked a hot spring hotel on short notice and were very satisfied with it. We arrived early and could not check in until after 3:30 pm, but fortunately we could leave our luggage at the hotel. The staff helped us make the bed when we were having dinner in the evening. There was a rich variety of dinner, but we didnât really like the side dishes. It would have been better if the side dishes were replaced with sashimi. We even had a surprise dessert after the meal, which made us very happy. The breakfast the next day was also very filling and delicious. The experience is very good and recommended for staying.
__M1348870****I was in Japan for a business trip and unfamiliar with Yokohama, so I picked this hotel because it looked relatively new. The price was also good. It was truly worth it.
This hotel is in the Minato Mirai area of Yokohama, quite close to the city center (the Westin might be further along, but it's more expensive). It's very convenient to get here from the Minatomirai train station. The front desk and restaurant on the 20th floor have a very upscale vibe. I recommend staying on the city view side because if you're lucky, you might even see Mount Fuji! It's a 10-minute walk to the Red Brick Warehouse, the Ferris wheel, and the Pacifico Yokohama convention center, and the 4th floor of Mark Is on the way has plenty of affordable restaurants.
The hotel breakfast is absolutely amazing and delicious (though eating it for four consecutive days might get a bit much, lol). I also had dinner there, which was excellent. There's also a sky pool, but it's not really set up for taking trendy Instagram photos. The service is exceptional; they can even help with self check-in/check-out.
I'd definitely want to stay here again the next time I visit Yokohama.
AAnonymous UserGood
1. Free breakfast
2. Breakfast had lots of bread variety
3. Free drink machine (soft drinks & coffee w matcha latte!)
4. Have free amenities for you to take
5. Location is near station and lots of shops surrounding too
Neutral:
- 2x washing machine & dryer but because of their popularity, have to fight for a chance to use them
Bad
- can be quite confusing to get to if you donât go from station but the surrounding shops
GGuest UserOverall an ok stay. A bit hard to find, very limited English spoken by the staff which led to some confusion (even for the representatives who were assigned to us by English speakers). Felt quite formal and not that warm
Room was more or less as expected, and the dinner and breakfast meals were quite elaborate. Felt that breakfast was actually the stronger meal of the two, so wasnât necessarily worth it to pay extra for dinner. Iâd likely skip doing dinner in the future. The room attendant who helped us was very kind and attentive, although we had a bit of language barrier given we donât speak Japanese.
The big disappointment was even though the ryokan is advertised as allowing guests to book one of the larger hot springs on the property for private use for 45 minutes, we werenât able to do this. We arrived within the designated check in time and were told that it was all booked up for the day. There was no way to book in advance and we were only staying for one night, and they didnât try to accommodate allowing us to book at all for the next day before checkout. This really hampered the experience overall - we werenât that interested in using the gender segregated facility (was traveling with my partner who is the opposite gender) as we wouldnât be able to spend time together, and the tub in our room was quite small.
They should amend this policy to allow all guests to book a private hot spring time or not advertise it as part of the room! Feels like we got cheated out of the service and we werenât offered anything else as an alternative. I would have booked another ryokan had I known this were the case - there are many others in Hakone which are much better value and have nicer / newer private facilities for around the same price. I wouldnât recommend Yama no Chaya given this was a big part of what we thought would make it a good experience
AAnonymous UserA very beautiful ryokan, old but very well maintained. The decor is so beautiful. From the moment you check in, you will be in good hands of the ryokan, well served with friendliness. Keiseki meals (dinner and breakfast) are served in the room. Food is delicious! And love the private outdoor onsen!! U get to book for 30 minutes per day for the stay. Well worth the price.
