We had a wonderful stay at Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo. The location couldn’t be more convenient — just across from Kyoto Station, close to AEON Mall, and only a short walk from our car rental shop, which made our trip planning super easy.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They kindly stored our luggage while we traveled for a few nights before returning, which was a huge help. When we checked in, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a room upgrade, and the room itself was spacious, clean, and comfortable.
Overall, excellent service and perfect location for exploring Kyoto. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort and convenience near Kyoto Station!

I've been to Kyoto many times and always opted for hotels near Kyoto Station. This time, I found a hotel with excellent value for money. Although it's a bit of a walk from Kyoto Station, it's still quite convenient. The Haruka express from Osaka Airport takes just over an hour to reach Kyoto Station. From the Central Exit (towards Kyoto Tower), cross the bus terminal and a major north-south road. Walk north for about 100 meters, and you'll see Yodobashi Camera. Then, cross the road to the east into a small lane (there's a very popular ramen shop in the middle) for about 100 meters, and at the end of that lane, across another main road, is the hotel.
The hotel staff were very friendly, and I even encountered a receptionist who spoke Chinese, which was a pleasant surprise. Check-in was very smooth. A standard 21-square-meter room in Japan is considered quite spacious; we were able to open both of our 26-inch suitcases. The room design in Japanese hotels is always very sensible, clean, and has a separate wet and dry area.
The hotel also has a laundry room and a large public bath (onsen) on the 10th floor. There were quite a few Westerners doing their laundry there. The onsen is spacious and has specific opening hours in the morning and evening. There's a large lounge area at the entrance where you can watch TV. After a day of sightseeing, soaking in the onsen is incredibly relaxing.
There are many restaurants of various types in the vicinity, and there's a 7-Eleven right across from the hotel, which is super convenient. It looks like this will be my go-to hotel for future trips to Kyoto.

A decent old five-star hotel, about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to Kyoto Station, and the service is good. However, the breakfast for a five-star hotel was a bit simple. The price was also a bit high on weekends.

The stay was wonderful.
Location right infront of Kyoto station & local bus interchange. If you came late from Kansai airport by limousine. the limousine will stop at Kyoto Avanti 3-5min away from this hotel.
If you join day tour, the pick up point is same at Limousine drop of point.
Many 7/11 & restaurants around.
The hotel look very new, room & bed was very comfortable and toilet was very clean. Hotel's staff front deck & housekeeping very polite.
The coffee house open for free hot & cool beverages for guests from afternoon till 10pm.
Will sure book this hotel if we visit Kyoto again.

The hotel's location isn't ideal; its primary convenience is its proximity to public transport. You'll need to take a bus to reach most places, including Kyoto Station, despite a nearby bus stop.
Breakfast was abundant but lacked flavor. Upon check-in, we were assigned an older room on the second floor and had to request a room change due to the extremely noisy bathroom exhaust fan.
The gym charges a fee for each use, and the public bath, though clean, is quite small.
Housekeeping could be more flexible; for our four-night stay, the room was only cleaned on the fourth day. Cleaning on the third day would have been much more practical. Furthermore, breakfast required selecting a fixed time slot with a voucher.

Didn't take any photos of the hotel, so I'll just use some sightseeing pictures to make up for it~
1. The hotel room isn't huge, but it's very clean. There's a laundry room on the second floor, which is great for families traveling. On the third floor and above, there are ice machines, which are super convenient. Most importantly, there's a hot spring bath on the first floor. After a long day of sightseeing, a soak in the tub ensures a wonderfully deep sleep. The hot spring area itself is also very clean and well-maintained.
2. Regarding transportation, it's a bit far from Shijo, the main shopping area. It's about a 30-minute subway ride or a 20-minute taxi ride costing 2000 JPY. Arashiyama and Eikando are 30-40 minutes away, Kiyomizu-dera is an hour, and Sanzen-in is an hour and a half. We only went to Arashiyama and Eikando, so it wasn't too bad. The scenic train in Arashiyama is a must-do; it's very picturesque. Eikando's Japanese garden wasn't crowded, and the experience was fantastic. Personally, I don't really recommend Kiyomizu-dera; it's too commercialized. The Kamo River is just a river, the kind you can see anywhere in China, so I wouldn't really recommend that either. Also, right next to the hotel is the Railway Museum, which is really, really good, but our whole family isn't into railways. Enthusiasts shouldn't miss it!
3. For food, there's a 7-Eleven and a Starbucks downstairs, which can cover breakfast. Not far from the hotel (if you stand with your back to Starbucks and walk right, cross the road, then turn left and walk for three minutes) there's a shopping mall. The sushi, eel rice, and ramen on the second floor are all incredibly delicious. It's mostly locals eating there, not many tourists, and it feels really authentic~

The location is excellent; it's just a two-minute walk across the street from Kyoto Station's Hachijo East Exit. A heads-up: if you accidentally exit on the wrong side of the station (like I did, ending up on the side with the Detective Conan display), you'll need to go back through the station via escalators to reach Hachijo East Exit. I actually got so lost I had to take a taxi! There's a 7-Eleven right downstairs, which is convenient, but a FamilyMart is a bit of a walk away, which I found a little inconvenient. There aren't many food options nearby, so you'll have to eat inside Kyoto Station.
Check-in is self-service at the front desk, and the machines offer a Chinese language option, which was very convenient.
Toiletries are available for self-pickup at the front desk, including a comprehensive selection: facial cleanser, toner, lotion, makeup remover, toothbrushes, combs, facial wipes, drip coffee, and tea bags.
The showerhead couldn't be fixed in place and kept shifting to the side (not sure if this was just an issue in my room).
The desk lamp has a separate switch (located next to the power outlet), which took me a while to figure out, haha.
The freezer compartment wasn't cold enough to freeze ice pops (unfortunately, I wasted one).
Overall, it was a great stay and offered excellent value for money.

The location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk to the Shijo bus stop and 10 minutes to the subway station. With a FamilyMart conveniently located downstairs, all our breakfast and late-night snack needs were covered.
This hotel offers great value for money. The room was quite spacious, featuring a king-size bed that comfortably accommodated two people. It also came with a small sofa and a table. I was particularly pleased with the ample hangers provided.
A delightful surprise was the onsen (hot spring) bath; it was wonderfully relaxing to soak in it every evening after exploring.
My only minor point of confusion was that while the room was tidied daily, the bed itself wasn't made. It would have been nice if they could at least straighten out the sheets a bit.

Very Good
11360173****The room was quite spacious, about 20 square meters, so there was plenty of space to lay out luggage without any worries. The bathroom was also a good size with a separate wet and dry area. However, I didn't use the shower there as I went to the large public bath on the 9th floor instead. Soaking in it was a great way to relieve the fatigue of a day of travel. The hotel is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, offering easy access to places like the National Museum, Ichiran Ramen (Shijo branch), and Shinshindo Bakery (Shijo branch).
AAnonymous UserUpon check-in, there was a staff member in the lobby who spoke Chinese. When checking out, a young woman helped me retrieve my stored luggage and even carried it to my car. She had already asked for my car number beforehand and came to the waiting area to notify me when the car arrived. I regret not catching her name. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to and from Kyoto Station daily. Although my stay was mostly arranged for an event and I only extended it by one day, they didn't make me switch rooms. I think their service is excellent.

Great
Ccairns8010To get to the hotel, you have to climb a long and steep slope. It was so hot that I was sweating like crazy. The location is not as good as Park Hyatt. Breakfast is set, but you can add anything you want. The Japanese and Western dishes are very exquisite, but I don't like them. Especially the breakfast without self-service fruit is too low. The hot spring is a bit like Six Senses, but not as big as Six Senses. It's good with fewer people. It's unexpected that a hotel of this level doesn't have a sound system. The only good thing is that all the service staff are very friendly. The overall review is really average.
JJiudianshoucangjiaJackThis hotel really captures the essence of Kyoto. There's a small garden in the inner courtyard, and the hidden door designs between different sections of the hotel are quite interesting and uniquely Japanese. The hotel has a lounge offering coffee, tea, and snacks, and you can also try out little games like origami. The tableware in both the lounge and the rooms is very refined and distinctly Japanese.
The hotel also has its own onsen (hot spring bath) that guests can use for free, and it stays open quite late.
Breakfast is good, a combination of Japanese and Western buffet styles.
Plus, the hotel is very close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, within walking distance.
Jjennifer.luThe biggest highlight of this hotel is having a washing machine in the room, which is really a lifesaver when staying here in the summer. Plus, there's complimentary coffee and tea available at the front desk, which is very convenient.
The only downside is that daily housekeeping isn't provided; they only replace towels and empty the trash.
The hotel's location is excellent. There's a 7-Eleven and a Xijiang BBQ restaurant right next door, and Karasuma Oike subway station is just a 100-meter walk away.
Great restaurants like Fiveran and Menya Yukou are also within 100 meters. This is definitely a must-stay hotel when visiting Kyoto.

GGuest UserThe hotel was excellent! We really enjoyed the traditional tatami beds and also booked a private onsen. Both offered great value for money. The location is super convenient, just 400 meters from the station, with a plethora of dining options, supermarkets, and shopping malls right nearby. Getting around was a breeze! The hotel staff provided incredibly warm and fantastic service. We'll definitely be back!

RRizhaomengnvMy absolute favorite in Japan! The staff member at the front desk was incredibly friendly. All the water in the hotel is filtered and potable, which is a fantastic perk! My single room had excellent soundproofing and great blackout curtains – so much so that I even overslept and missed check-out the next day! I rushed out, forgot my room card, and the staff member patiently helped me out. I promise I won't be so silly next time! Highly recommended! The location is also fantastic, just about ten meters from the subway entrance – incredibly convenient! (Didn't manage to snap photos of the hotel itself, so here are a few from Kyoto instead!)
MMel.amEnjoyed the racing of laundry machines daily while I was there, there are always many people waiting to use it.
Anyway, generally a very cosy hotel. The rooms are not big, but not as small as Tokyo’s same price point.
Breakfast menu doesn’t change, except for their Kyoto dessert of the day. Maybe they do change their menu, but at least not that I know of, I was there for a total of 5 days
P.s: There’s a clam ramen stall just beside the hotel that’s always queueing. Pls don’t queue, it’s really not fantastic. If the queue is less than 5 people, that means it will probable be 30-40mins, you can give it a try. Otherwise, don’t bother. It’s not worth it.
