Abu simbel

The Ancient Egyptian Temple Complex is located in Southern Egypt near the border with Sudan, Abu Simbel is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, built by Pharaoh Ramses II (1279–1213 BCE). Key Facts: 1. Two Temples - Great Temple of Ramses II: Dedicated to himself and the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah. - Small Temple of Nefertari: Dedicated to Ramses' favorite wife, Queen Nefertari, and the goddess Hathor. 2. The Famous Sun Alignment (Twice a Year!)☀️ - On February 22 & October 22, sunlight penetrates the inner sanctuary, illuminating statues of Ramses II and the gods (except Ptah, the god of darkness). 3. UNESCO Rescue Mission (1960s) - The temples were cut into blocks and moved 65m higher to save them from flooding caused by the Aswan High Dam.
