Wat Srikarang, Nakhon Nayok

Wat Srikarang, Nakhon Nayok, is located on a hill next to Ka Ang Waterfall. The prominent feature of the temple that can be seen from afar is the large white and gold Buddha statue situated on the hill. This temple is very quiet, and although it is on a hill, the path up is not steep and is easy to climb. There is a walkway that continues to the cliff. The temple was built in 1972 by Luang Pho Chamrat Thitijako (Inthrakhamhaeng), a wandering monk who passed through the Ka Ang Waterfall area and stayed at the current temple site. He saw the tranquility of the place and decided to establish it as a meditation site. Later, local villagers with faith helped to build it into a temple. Inside the temple, there is a vihara of Guan Yin in the blessing posture and an important Buddha image, Phra Buddha Chinnarat, which was built to honor His Majesty the King. It is believed to be the largest of its kind in Thailand. The Buddha image was later named Phra Sumpuddha Sakyamuni Lokanatha. The ordination hall of Wat Srikarang is located on the hilltop, about 385 meters from the temple (accessible by car), and offers a beautiful viewpoint. The ordination hall is a blend of Thai and Chinese architecture. The distinctive feature of the ordination hall is the door and window frames decorated with ancient bowls and dishes donated by villagers. Inside the ordination hall, there is a Buddha image in the posture of subduing Mara, with the name of the Supreme Patriarch (Yassa) inscribed. The Supreme Patriarch Phra Yannasangwon named the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall.
