Bang Kung Temple

Wat Bang Kung is an ancient temple built since the Ayutthaya period. It is an important temple in history. It is located in Bang Khonthi District, Samut Songkhram Province. The highlight of the beauty of Wat Bang Kung that is different from other temples is the Bodhi Tree Church. The church of the temple is covered with 4 types of large trees: Bodhi Tree, Banyan Tree, Krai Tree and Krang Tree. It is considered the only church in a tree in Thailand and is estimated to be over 200 years old. Inside the Bodhi Tree Church, there is Luang Pho Phutthamaninil or Luang Pho Bot Noi or Luang Pho Dam, a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya attitude from the late Ayutthaya period. It is a sacred Buddha statue that is highly revered by the villagers. In addition, inside the Bodhi Tree Church, there are beautiful and very old murals that tell the story of the life of the Buddha. There are pictures of the Buddha giving a sermon and pictures of the Buddha sitting in a niche, flanked by the chief disciples sitting with their hands together in prayer.
