Wat Suthat, Bangkok

Wat Suthat is a first-class royal temple, Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan. In the reign of King Rama I, he graciously established it as the central temple of the city and built a large chapel, comparable in size to Wat Phanan Choeng in Ayutthaya. Then, he invited the metal Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, which was cast during the reign of the Phra Ruang dynasty, known as Phra To or Phra Yai, from the royal chapel of Wat Mahathat in Sukhothai Province to be enshrined there. Later, in the reign of King Rama III, he demanded to complete the construction of the chapel, along with building the ordination hall and casting a new principal Buddha image. He bestowed the name of the temple as Wat Suhatsana Thepwararam, from the original name of Wat Phra To until the present. He gave the name of Phra To, which is the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall, as Phra Phutthasavisakyamuni, and the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall as Phra Phuttha Trilok Chet. #Waiting for the day to depart
