Santa Cruz Church was built during the reign of King Taksin the Great to be a religious site for the Portuguese who migrated from Ayutthaya since 1769. Therefore, it is considered to be the oldest Christian church in Bangkok. The church itself was renovated again in 1835 and looks like a Chinese shrine (Gudi Chin), hence the name “Wat Kudi Chin”. If we talk about the beauty of the church, we must say that this church is designed in a combination of Renaissance and Neoclassical architecture. The highlight that is unlike any other is the “dome of the church” which is an Italian dome, similar to the Florence Cathedral in Tuscany.
