Wat Phichitthayatikaram Worawihan

#Travelwithtrip2024 Wat Phichaiyatikararam is a second-class royal temple, Worawihan type, under the Mahanikaya sect. It was originally an abandoned temple, but Somdej Chao Phraya Borommaha Phichaiyati (That Bunnag), when he was named Phraya Si Phiphat Ratchakosa, renovated it around 2372 - 2375 B.E. during the reign of King Rama III. The architecture of this temple is a mixture of Thai and Chinese styles, which was the royal style at that time. When the temple was renovated, it was presented to King Nangklao, Rama III, who bestowed the name "Wat Phraya Yatikaram". Later, King Rama IV changed the name of the temple to "Wat Phichaiyatikararam" or what people generally call "Wat Phichaiyati". Important religious objects of this temple The ordination hall is built in Chinese art, without the gable or raka leaves, which were the royal style during the reign of King Rama III. The principal Buddha image in the ordination hall, "Phra Siddhartha", has a history of being a Buddha image. One of the seven Buddha images brought from Phitsanulok is a Buddha image made by craftsmen from the Sukhothai period. It is assumed that it was originally enshrined in one of the important temples in Phitsanulok, namely Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat, Wat Wihan Thong, Wat Ratchaprathit, and Wat Chulamanee. At one of these temples, the locals call him "Luang Pho Somprathan", and he is highly respected by Buddhists.
