Wat Yannawa Royal Monastery

🛕Wat Yannawa, a third-class royal temple of the Mahanikaya sect, is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, on Charoen Krung Road, Yan Nawa Subdistrict, Sathon District, Bangkok. It is an ancient temple that has been around since the Ayutthaya period. It was originally called "Wat Khok Khwai" because many Thavoy people settled there. 🛶During the Thonburi period, Wat Khok Khwai was elevated to a royal temple and given a new name, "Wat Khok Krabue". Later, during the reign of King Rama I, a new chapel was built. During the reign of King Rama III, he graciously ordered the renovation and construction of a junk pagoda instead of the usual pagodas so that later generations could see the junk style that was disappearing from Thailand.
