Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram is located in the outer royal palace on the eastern side. It enshrines the Phra Phuttha Maha Mani Rattana Patimakorn or the Emerald Buddha, a meditative Buddha image made entirely from a single piece of green sapphire. Thais can enter for free, but must dress appropriately; tank tops, shorts, and ripped pants are prohibited. Foreigners must pay an entrance fee of 500 baht. Visitors can enter the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram, the Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram Museum, and Bang Pa-In Palace or Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. However, since Bang Pa-In Palace sells separate admission tickets and Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall is closed for renovation, the Bureau of the Royal Household has arranged for a Khon performance instead. There are Khon performances at Sala Chalermkrung every Monday to Friday, 5 shows per day: 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. Each performance lasts 25 minutes. Tourists will receive a Khon performance ticket along with a permit to enter the Grand Palace. There is a shuttle bus to pick up tourists in front of Wiman Thewet Gate, which is the exit gate of the Grand Palace.
