The towering cypress trees of the "Former Site of the Fujian Soviet Government"!

The "Former Site of the Fujian Soviet Government" is located at No. 41 Zhaozheng Road, Tingzhou Town, Changting County. It is a courtyard-style structure, consisting of a gatehouse, main hall, back hall, wing rooms, and several bungalows. The environment is tranquil, and the scale is grand. In the courtyard, there are two cypress trees with thick trunks, lush and vibrant, which are quite spectacular. It is said that Ji Xiaolan, a great writer of the Qing Dynasty, once stayed here when he came to Tingzhou as an examiner. He later recorded in "Notes from the Grass Hut of Reading": "In front of the hall of the Tingzhou Examination Institute, there are two ancient cypress trees, which are from the Tang Dynasty." Unlike the cypress trees commonly seen in the Jianghuai region (referred to as the north) where the author is located, the leaves of the ancient cypress trees are broad and grow downward! The possible reason is that the temperature in Fujian is relatively high, with abundant rainfall and sunlight, which promotes the vigorous growth of cypress trees. The leaves are large and heavy, and gravity pulls them downward. Of course, this is a subjective assumption and has not been verified. The central hall was originally the main hall of the Tingzhou Examination Institute. On March 18, 1932, the first Congress of Workers, Peasants, and Soldiers of Fujian Province was grandly held here, officially announcing the establishment of the Fujian Soviet Government. On both sides are the "Tingzhou Hakka Museum" and the "Changting Revolutionary History Exhibition." In the backyard, there are also the "Red 34th Division Battle History Exhibition" and the "Fujian Soviet Government History Exhibition." The site was first built in the Song Dynasty and was used as the Tingzhou Examination Institute during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, where students from the eight counties of Tingzhou took exams. In 1932, it was the Fujian Soviet Government. Now, it is the Changting County Museum.
