The "Old Well" where Mao Zedong recuperated in Changting!

After visiting the Changting Revolutionary Site - Gospel Hospital, head up the hill to find the place where Mao Zedong recuperated at the hospital. Halfway up the hill, you will see several women busy washing clothes or fetching water. There is a well nearby that stands out. Unlike common wells, this one is round with a square wellhead. The well is about 1.5 meters wide, and the water level is less than 2 meters from the wellhead. The water is clear and bright. A large stone stands next to the well with the words "Old Well" inscribed on it. According to the introduction, this mountain is called Wolong Mountain. In 1932, Mao Zedong recuperated at the Gospel Hospital and lived in a small yellow building on the hillside for three or four months. During that time, no matter how cold the weather was, Mao Zedong would fetch water from the old well every morning to wash and do laundry with the local people. Thirty years later, during the 7,000 Cadres Conference, Mao Zedong asked Ye Fei, the Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee, "Is there still water in the old well in Tingzhou?" Mao Zedong had a deep connection with the old well. The "Old Well" is located on the southern slope of Wolong Mountain in the ancient city of Tingzhou, Changting County, Fujian. How can a well on a hillside have such an abundant water supply? Although the local people have long had access to convenient tap water, people still come here to fetch water.
