Chengdu's first science fiction theme park is now open for free!! Experience it during off-peak hours, it's really great!

October 18 to 22, 2023, the 81st World Science Fiction Convention was successfully held at the Chengdu Science Fiction Museum. The World Science Fiction Park is located in the core area of the Jingrong Lake district in Pidu District, Chengdu. The venue was designed by the globally selected Zaha Hadid Architects, with an exterior inspired by the form of a 'nebula'. The lobby's skylight incorporates elements of the Sanxingdui gold foil masks, realizing a 'dialogue' that transcends a thousand years between the ancient Shu civilization and modern science fiction culture. Currently, the Science Fiction Museum can be entered for free with an ID card after making an online reservation (you can directly search for 'Chengdu Science Fiction Museum' in the WeChat mini-program to make a reservation in advance). The venue's exhibition area is divided into 3 floors, with the first floor being a shared atrium with a theater, themed exhibition areas, and a museum, the second and third floors being forum and salon areas, and the basement first floor being a time tunnel, parking lot, and equipment rooms. Due to the park's proximity, there is both the novelty of visiting the science museum for the first time and the casualness of strolling in the park downstairs. Plus, not being very familiar with science fiction, some exhibition halls were not open, and there were more entertainment and leisure areas, so after the whole visit, Xiao Zi felt a bit like she was looking at flowers in the fog. 🚉 Transportation Strategy: Combined transportation: Departing from Chengdu East Station, take the Chengdu Metro Line 2 (towards Xipu, transfer at Xipu Station to Metro Line 6 (towards Wangcong Temple), then take the tram Rong 2 Line (towards Chengdu West Station) and get off at Dayu East Road Station (Tram-Southwest Exit), and walk to the destination.
