Tianfu Square has a long history. During the Han Dynasty, it was the site of the Chengdu Palace, and in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was known as the 'Imperial City.' In 1951, as part of Chengdu's development plan, the Imperial City was demolished, and Tianfu Square was established. At one point, a bronze statue of Liu Bei from the Shu Han period of the Three Kingdoms era stood in the center of the square, but in 1997, it was replaced with a Taiji pattern and a sculpture of the Sunbird during a renovation. Today, Tianfu Square is a landmark representing modern Chengdu, a space where history and modernity coexist, beloved by both citizens and travelers. The area is also surrounded by large shopping malls and commercial districts, making it a great place for both sightseeing and shopping.
