Pay respect to the Phra Buddha Sihing in Chiang Mai

Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan, or simply Wat Phra Singh, was originally called 'Wat Li Chiang Phra' because it is located near the city center market. The word Li is a Lanna word meaning market. It was built in 1888 by Phraya Phayu, the fifth king of Chiang Mai of the Mangrai Dynasty, to enshrine the ashes of his father, Phraya Kham Fu. It is a temple that enshrines Phra Singh or Phra Buddha Sihing, a sacred Buddha image of Chiang Mai and Lanna. According to the belief in the sacred relics of the year of birth of Lanna, those born in the year of the Horse must come to pay homage.
