It was officially inaugurated on April 3, 2021 by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who brought 22 mummies, including 18 kings and four queens, from the Egyptian Museum in downtown Cairo during an event known as the Golden Procession of the Pharaohs. The museum displays 50,000 artifacts, showcasing Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the modern era. The permanent collection is divided into two separate areas; one arranged chronologically, the other arranged thematically. The areas arranged chronologically are as follows: Ancient, Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Medieval, Islamic, Modern, and Contemporary. The subject areas are as follows: Dawn of Civilization, The Nile, Writing, State and Society, Material Culture, Faith and Mind, and the Royal Mummy Gallery. UNESCO provided technical assistance to the museum. The collection will come from other Egyptian museums, such as the Egyptian Museum, the Coptic Museum, the Museum of Islamic Art, the Maniel Palace in Cairo, and the Royal Jewelry Museum in Alexandria. To be honest, I came here with the mentality of just taking a look, but I didn't expect that there were royal pharaoh mummies here. Taking photos inside is very strict, and taking photos of mummies is not allowed. A must-see place when you come to Egypt.
