Nein Ancient City

Nein Ancient City is a relatively niche tourist attraction and one of the birthplaces of the Fuca clan, one of the Eight Banners of the Jianzhou Jurchens. The Fuca clan served as important officials for generations in the Qing court, with notable figures including Mazi and Fuk'anggan, although they belonged to the Shaji Fuca clan branch. Changbai Mountain has always been the ancestral home of the Jianzhou Jurchens. Many existing landmarks associated with their origins are fabrications by later generations. Only the ancient city on the banks of the Nein River retains many Manchu traditions, making it a living fossil of the original Manchu shamanic culture. The ancient city is filled with the atmosphere of primitive shamanic religion, blended with some new elements of Taoism and Buddhism. Puzzlingly, only a statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva is enshrined here, while the Qing emperors claimed to be incarnations of Manjushri. Perhaps the statue of Manjushri is more suitable for official temples. It seems a trip to Wutai Mountain and Chengde is needed to find the answer.
