Why is Zugspitze not internationally popular yet??!

#2024mapped Zugspitze is hands down the best part of my trip in Germany. Being the tallest mountain of Germany, it is yet not that famous internationally (at least not outside Europe) as a place with snowy mountainous landscape. But it should have been. The view up there is breathtaking, with a fantastically designed 360degree panoramic platform. Since the mountain is shared by Germany and Austria, they share the platform but have their own restaurants/facilities. The German side is more sleek/modern, while the Austrian side has incredible views at the restaurant (if you need a meal up there, I’d strongly recommend to do it at the Austrian side). The cable car pass costs the same whether you ski or not, which is odd but lovely. Had I had more time, I’d certainly choose to come up with a complete set of gear. But that also means you might wanna plan up more time for a trip to Zugspitze. And there’s a combo deal with a train ticket from Munich that has departure early in the morning, which is extremely worth considering, if one is to arrive by train. The reason why I didn’t have enough time is: the lake at the bottom, Eibsee, is a gorgeous lake with mesmerizing. I’d even argue it’s the best lake in Germany and in no way inferior to any Switzerland lakes. Do reserve two hours to go a full round, preferably in the morning. It’s absolutely worth it.
