One of the most famous villages in the Guadalajara province

Spanish Central Plateau Walking Tour ~ Guadalajara (Region) This village, located between the Tajo and Tajuña rivers, has a medieval layout and feel and is one of the most famous villages in the Guadalajara province. It was the residence of noble bloodlines and was also home to a monastery founded by the mystical Santa Teresa de Jesús. Its old town is designated a property of cultural value. Its historical remains include a group of beautifully preserved buildings. The Ducal Palace (mid-16th century) is a splendid Renaissance building, as evidenced by its elegant façade; the legendary Princess Éboli lived there. It was designed by Alonso de Covarrubias; it has a rectangular floor plan with corner towers and a Plateresque facade flanked by Corinthian columns. You can also visit the Collegiate School of San Buenaventura (17th century) and the two convents founded by Santa Teresa de Jesús - there is also a Teresa Museum - the Franciscan Conceptualists and the Monastery of El Carmen (16th century). The latter is home to the Natural History Museum. The Collegiate and Parish Church of Asunción (16th-17th centuries) is adjacent to the Gothic church of the Orden del Temple (12th-14th centuries).
