Guangzhou Cantonese Temple Fair - a unique festival in Guangzhou that allows you to gain a deeper understanding of the history and traditions of Cantonese

The Guangzhou Cantonese Temple Fair is a cultural event held by the Guangzhou Municipal Government during the Spring Festival, usually held one week after the Lantern Festival. The event combines elements of Guangdong local culture with northern temple fairs, aiming to provide a platform for citizens and tourists to celebrate and experience Cantonese culture. The temple fair usually lasts from the 15th to the 21st day of the first lunar month, during which up to ten themed activities are held, including puppet shows, unique Chinese skills, martial arts conferences and the Lantern Festival, as well as additional activities such as praying, folk customs, food and trade. The origins of the Cantonese Temple Fair can be traced back to the Yuexiu District Government's decision to create this event in 2010 with the aim of attracting citizen participation and promoting the integration of culture, commerce and tourism. In addition to celebrating the festival, the event was designed to showcase the unique charm of Cantonese culture and become a unique festival event in Guangzhou, allowing people to enjoy the festive atmosphere while gaining a deeper understanding of Cantonese history and traditions. #LocalFestivals
