Since the Baietan Bay Area Art Center was completed and opened in 2024, Guangzhou has added a new landmark. The entire building resembles a "giant cultural ship", housing three venues: the Guangdong Museum of Art (Baietan Branch), the Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, and the Guangdong Literature Museum. The Guangdong Museum of Art has thus formed a new pattern of "one museum, two branches, staggered development" with its Baietan and Ersha Island branches. · [Venue Facilities] 1. Guangdong Museum of Art (Baietan Branch) Located in the eastern part of the Baietan Bay Area Art Center, the museum covers a construction area of 65,000 square meters (excluding public areas) and an exhibition area of 25,000 square meters. It has 21 exhibition halls and a vast public art area. This branch focuses on the research of the development ecology of Chinese contemporary art and international contemporary art, explores international art exchange and cooperation, and strives to become a comprehensive contemporary art museum with international influence, showcasing the achievements of Lingnan culture, promoting the construction of a cultural bay area, and facilitating cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. 2. Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum Located in the western part of the Baietan Bay Area Art Center, the museum has 5 floors above ground, with a construction area of 26,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 10,400 square meters. The basic display, themed "People's Intangible Cultural Heritage, New Colors of the Times", is divided into 7 exhibition halls, with an additional special exhibition hall. The exhibition uses an upward-growing "banyan tree" as the main spatial image, integrating the "roots of the nation" into the exhibition context. 3. Guangdong Literature Museum Located in the central part of the Baietan Bay Area Art Center, the museum has 8 floors above ground and 2 floors underground, with a height of 52.3 meters. It covers a construction area of 18,400 square meters and an exhibition area of 5,400 square meters. Based on the positioning of "a product of the times, a palace of literature, and a space for citizens", "a landmark of Lingnan culture, a destination for public leisure, and a meeting room for bay area exchanges", it strives to become a literary base camp for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, integrating collection, exhibition, research, education, reading, exchange, and creative activities. · [Visiting Suggestions] It takes a long half-day to visit all three venues. You can also focus on visiting according to your personal preferences. For example, I prefer intangible cultural heritage, so I visited the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum first to learn about the intangible cultural heritage of various places in Guangdong, which I found very interesting. The second place I visited was the art museum. It is very large, with a rich artistic atmosphere, and it is also a great place to take photos.
