Pearl River flows slowly, time is peaceful: a leisurely stroll on Cheung Chau Island

#Guangzhou Itinerary The early winter sun shone obliquely on the Pearl River. I took a boat slowly approaching Cheung Chau Island. The river water hit the hull, and a sense of anticipation arose in my heart. After arriving on the island, what comes into view is a tranquil scene with ancient banyan trees exuding a strong rural atmosphere. The narrow alley winds its way, with low and simple arcades on both sides, as if time has stopped here. I strolled to the ruins of the ancient artillery fort, and thought of the heroic scenes of guarding the waterway in the past, and I couldn't help but feel respect in my heart. Going further ahead is Su Yuan Old Street. The Qing Dynasty-style buildings still retain their warm heritage after years of baptism. The roadside shop sells authentic Guangzhou snacks. A simple bowl of boat porridge can give you endless satisfaction. In the evening, standing by the river, watching the sunset dye the river surface into a golden red, and hearing the hustle and bustle of fishing boats returning to the port. On this day, the tranquility and heaviness of Cheung Chau Island are deeply engraved in my memory. This quaint place, with its unique charm, tells another side of Guangzhou.
