Guiping Zhongshan Park

Guiping Zhongshan Park is located in the northwest of the city, covering an area of 96 mu, with a lake area of 25 mu. In the Ming Dynasty, it was the private garden of Ma Wenxiang, a Beijing official, and was formerly known as Ma's Garden. On October 21, 1921, Mr. Sun Yat-sen, the Provisional President, discussed the Northern Expedition with the warlord Chen Jiongming. On his way from Wuzhou to Nanning, he stopped in Guiping and climbed Xishan Mountain. After the tour, he returned and took a rest under the ancient banyan tree in the park. Mr. Sun Yat-sen saw the beautiful scenery in the park and told people to build the park well to benefit the local people. In the 1930s, Li Juejun, the county magistrate of Guiping, invited Huang Yinwu to serve as the director of the county government construction department and the park management office. Huang Yinwu actively built the park. In 1936, in memory of Mr. Sun Yat-sen, it was turned into Zhongshan Park. After the liberation, it was repaired several times, the lotus pond was deepened, the edge was surrounded by rough stones, a bridge was built on the lake, and a road around the lake was paved. There are nearly 40,000 large and small trees in the park, with ancient trees towering into the sky, winding flower paths, beautiful scenery, and reflections of the lake, making it a good place for citizens to visit, relax, and exercise. In 2008, Zhongshan Park was repaired again. On the basis of retaining the original landscape and ancient trees, new trails, landscape lights, zigzag bridges, antique buildings, fitness equipment, large playgrounds, and a large number of landscape plants were added.
