Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence - the only military-themed museum in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence is located in Shau Kei Wan. It is the only museum in Hong Kong with the theme of military and war history. It was rebuilt from the old fort in Lei Yue Mun and is located in the Lei Yue Mun Strait, only a few hundred meters away from the Lei Yue Mun Sam Ka Tsuen on the opposite bank. After its revamp last year, the Museum of Coastal Defence added multimedia elements to its permanent exhibitions and historical trails, increasing the interest of visitors in learning about history and telling them about the history of Hong Kong. The permanent exhibition is located in the Lei Yue Mun Fort on the mountain. It consists of 11 themed exhibition halls converted from cellars, showcasing the changes in Hong Kong's coastal defense and military from the Tang Dynasty to modern times. The museum's permanent exhibitions and outdoor exhibitions also display warship models, military uniforms, oyster trenches, torpedoes, comet tanks and armored vehicles.
