Original English musical recreates the "can do" spirit through authentic spoken language

Taikoo Place and the Hong Kong Youth Arts Federation (HKYAF) have once again joined hands to create an English musical comedy with local elements, "PROJECT AFTER 6: No Problem", which will be performed at ArtisTree Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay from June 16 to 24, 2023. The musical was created and directed by Lindsey McAlister, founder of HKYAF. It is another masterpiece following the 2018 musical "PROJECT AFTER 6: Cube Culture", which was based on Hong Kong's office culture. "No Problem" began open casting in December 2021, selecting 33 white-collar workers from more than 500 applicants. The actors come from all walks of life, with different cultural backgrounds and life experiences. They are full of passion for art and are ready to shine with unique sparks on the stage in June. "PROJECT AFTER 6: No Problem" is a conceptual musical that revolves around the daily details of Hong Kong and shows the love and hate that Hong Kong people have for this city. The musical is filled with humorous and resonant story scenes, including the delicate relationship between the "wife" and the foreign domestic helper, and the "tutoring king" who often appears in bus advertisements and is overly worshipped. The musical’s 14 original songs were composed by Nick Harvey, winner of the British Academy Film Awards and Emmy Awards, while the stage and costumes, which blend Eastern and Western elements, were designed by Marsha Roddy, who was inspired by Chinese porcelain patterns. The show is sure to dazzle the audience. Playwright and director Lindsey McAlister said: “The original intention of this musical comedy is to evoke the audience’s collective memories through Hong Kong sentiments and representative scenes in daily life.
