Just a short walk from Tokyo Station, there is a festival where you can see a fantastic sight! Today, we will introduce the "Mama River Lantern Floating" which takes place about a 15-minute walk from Ichikawa Station in Chiba Prefecture. Lantern Floating is a custom that takes place during the Obon period, where spirits (the souls of ancestors) float down the river on lanterns in hopes of returning to the afterlife beyond the sea. 🧐 This is an event that is popular among the local people of Ichikawa! The sight of all the lanterns floating down the small river at once is truly fantastic! The lanterns swaying in the flow of the river and the lit flames swaying are very soothing to watch. 🥰 This is an event that you should definitely go and see at least once! This year, it will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 7pm! There will be food stalls at the nearby Tejina Reishindo, so you can enjoy the festival atmosphere! !
