Daci Rock Hanging Temple

Located 24 km south of Jiande City, Zhejiang Province, the temple is in the Daci Rock Scenic Area. During the Dade period of the Yuan dynasty, Mo Ziyuan from Lin'an followed a dream to abandon his family and come here, carving a Buddha from the rock and naming it Daci. The mountain was named after the Buddha, and the name Daci Rock was born. Architectural features: (Unique) The main hall, the Dizang King Hall, is half embedded in the rock and half suspended in the air, making it a spectacular sight. Outside the hall hangs a bronze bell cast in the mid-Ming dynasty, and to the left is a narrow crevice. (Suspended) The temple, plank road, incense corridor, and cableway all embody the concept of "suspension." The "Heavenly Plank Road" is built along the cliff, with a stone railing extending into a long corridor. Looking down from the railing, one feels as if the cliff is about to collapse. (Ingenious) The Hanging Temple has more than 40 halls and pavilions, seemingly supported by only a dozen wooden pillars as thick as bowls. In fact, some of the pillars bear no weight at all, a testament to the ingenious design.
